Bill Haley Royal Command Performance

This was one of the highspots of the latter part of Bill Haley's career. Appearing by Royal Command in the 1979 Royal Variety performance in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at London's Theatre Royal. Quite a poignant moment when you consider that Bill's mother came from England. The British audiences always gave Bill warm welcome. Just take a listen to the roar of applause when he takes the stage in the finale.

Correction: This was recorded June 14:th 1951 for Holiday Records. Jackie Brenston did the original a few months earlier, but some people say this version is the first Rock & Roll record. The car in the video was equipped with Rocket V-8,Hydra Matic Super Glide,Power Windows,Power Steering,Power Seat,De-Luxe Radio,Autronic Eye,Traffic Light Viewer,Rear Fender Panels and lots of other options.
