If you were listening, you heard what could best be described as a 'showdown at the Q corral' when Mr. Thornton took offense to our mention of his cinematic accomplishments. Billy Bob Thornton's tour canceled after rude Interview
Billy Bob Thornton's band has canceled the rest of its Canadian tour after the actor compared the country's fans to mashed potatoes with no gravy in a testy interview that caused a sensation online. The Boxmasters opened for Willie Nelson on Thursday in Toronto , where they reportedly were booed and met with catcalls of "Here comes the gravy." A note posted on Nelson's Web site Friday said the Boxmasters were canceling the rest of their Canadian dates "due to one band member and several of the crew having the flu." The cancellation came two days after Thornton made world headlines with a belligerent appearance on CBC radio's "Q." The actor apparently didn't like that host Jian Ghomeshi started the interview with references to Thornton's Hollywood career. Thornton refused to answer many of Ghomeshi's questions directly, mumbling: "I don't know what you're talking about." He later said Ghomeshi's producers had been told ahead of time not to talk about his film career. Thornton also had some unkind words for Canadian crowds. "Canadian audiences seem to be very reserved," he told Ghomeshi. "We tend to play places where people throw things at each other. Here, they just sort of sit there. And it doesn't matter what you say to 'em. ... It's mashed potatoes but no gravy." Before his Thursday night gig, Thornton tried to clarify those remarks, saying he loved Canada and his "mashed potatoes" comment had been aimed at Ghomeshi. TV news story about Billy Bob Thornton's plan to make a movie about the Floyd Collins tragedy of 1925. Floyd Collins was a cave explorer who got trapped in a Kentucky cave, in what is now Mammoth Cave National Park. Rescuers were able to reach Floyd, but they could not get him out of the cave, because his foot was stuck under a rock in a tight space. Billy Bob Thornton's plan to make a movie about Floyd was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter: Billy Bob Thornton is digging into a new period project. The multihyphenate is on board to develop "Floyd Collins" as a feature film for Paramount Pictures and will helm and star in the drama. Thornton's manager, Geyer Kosinski, is producing through his Media Talent Group. Set in 1925, the drama centers on the true-life story of cave explorer Floyd Collins' entrapment in a Kentucky cavern and the ensuing 13-day news frenzy. The story marked one of the first large-scale media spectacles, provoking hourly radio bulletins and garnering nationwide newspaper headlines. The project is described as being particularly relevant today because it echoes modern-day mining accidents and 24-hour news cycles. Thornton's longtime writing partner Tom Epperson adapted the screenplay from the book "Trapped!: The Story of Floyd Collins" by Robert Murray and Roger Brucker. Well, you'd think she wouldn't want to publicly remind us of her bad reputation, but apparently she doesn't care! Billy Bob Thornton has a new tell all memoir coming out- and not only has Angelina surprisingly given her ex-husband the go-ahead on releasing it, but she even wrote the foreword for the book!! A publicist for HarperCollins confirms that Angie has indeed penned the foreword for 56-year-old Thornton's juicy new book, called "The Billy Bob Tapes: A Cave Full of Ghosts." Angie recently said that she saves her "bad side" for her current man Brad Pitt. But she was actually married to Billy Bob for a few years! Billy Bob Thornton's Interview - A Simple Plan (1998)
Based on Scott B. Smith's bone-chilling 1993 novel, A Simple Plan is a bit of a departure for horror film director Sam Raimi. Instead of flying eyeballs and dancing corpses, A Simple Plan is a taut crime thriller in the vein of Joel Coen's Academy Award-winning Fargo. Set during the white winters of Minnesota, this story tells the eerie tale of Hank and Jacob Mitchell (played by Bill Paxton and Billy Bob Thornton) who, along with a buddy, find a downed single-engine plane buried in the snowy woods. Inside it is a decaying pilot and a bag carrying four million dollars in one-hundred-dollar bills. The men decide to hide the money until spring when the snow is melted and the plane is found. If no one notices the missing money at that time, they will split it and live a wealthy new life. A simple plan, right? Wrong. Much like Humphrey Bogart's The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, things can only get worse, as distrust and greed creep into the minds of the principles. They find it difficult to decide which one gets to hold the money -- and even more impossible to keep from dipping into the stash until spring. And so on. It also becomes increasingly tough to keep a secret of this magnitude. And if all this doesn't get moviegoers' brains working, it seems there are suspicious characters in town who just may be able to link them to the plane, forcing the more dangerous and bloody question of what to do with those people and how to cover their tracks.
