Anthony Lucas of Eminence Speakers talks about the brand new Flux Density Modulation speaker models. There will be two models a Red Coat Series "Reignmaker" and a Patriot Series "Maverick". Essentially these brand new speaker models will have a built in attenuator on the back of the magnet that will give you up to -9dB of attenuation. I played the Reignmaker model and it sounded amazing and felt great too. Not like an amp and an external attenuator box. Game changing for controlling an amplifiers volume if you ask me. Here is a quick video on how to read the impedance of a speaker. If you take a reading of an 8 ohm speaker it does not read perfectly at 8 ohms. According to Anthony Lucas at Eminence speakers when a speaker is labeled 8 ohms, it is actually a nominal reading. An ohm meter measures the resistance to direct current (DC), but music is alternating current (AC). A speaker's impedance to AC depends on frequency and the nominal rated impedance is sort of an average impedance over the useable frequency range of the speaker. So do not panic if you wire up a multi-speaker enclosure and it reads below what you think it is going to read. www.300guitars.com

Here is a quick video on how to reduce pickguard static. Sometimes with a brand new guitar or new pickguard there can be an annoying crackling sound from a static charge that builds up between the guitar body and pickguard. This tip can dramatically reduce this and it is easy to do.

I don't think that there are many 1980's Fender Super Champ demo videos on Youtube so I decided to shoot one. This is an earlier production Super Champ and I have to admit it does have a couple tweaks to it. First one is the Eminence Ragin' Cajun speaker. Second is changing the tone caps from .1 & .047 to a pair of .022's. I also changed one cap for the overdrive mode to clear up the driven sound. I got to play the #1 Unicorn guitar at NAMM 2010. This guitar was hand-built by Juha Ruokangas. Juha is a super guy and an awesome builder. The Unicorn played like a dream and had "that" sound. Super comfortable and balances perfectly on your leg unlike a LP. This particular guitar is Juha's personal instrument and was featured in his youtube video series he did documenting the entire build process. Here is a video about how to "relic" guitar parts for that aged vintage look. This is the way I've been doing it for a number of years with great results. It's best of you do this in a well ventilated area and wear rubber gloves. After you remove the parts that you want to age let them sit for a while on cardboard or something similar. Check them in about an hour and rinse them with water. See how they look and if you want more aging then put them in for another round. Cut the time for gold hardware down to 10 minutes and see what your parts look like. Gold will age faster than nickel and certainly chrome or stainless steel.
