Hypomania is a condition found in Bipolar II. It is a lesser form of mania, but can turn into mania. There are many symptoms and behaviors associated with hypomania. This video is about racing thoughts. The thoughts come and go so fast they slip from my grip. Just when I grab one thought it slips away from me like a bar of wet soap. I can't remember what I was thinking because the thought slipped away and new ones have come to replace old ones in the snap of a finger. Eventually it gets so bad I just sit down, let it run its course and don't do anything because i'm so overwhelmed. Sometimes it is so bad I get a sort of motion sickness from all the movement in my brain. The only person I tell is my psychiatrist. Other people can't relate or understand + i feel embarrassed. My thinking becomes more frantic. My speech speeds up (pressure speech). It is very uncomfortable & I don't like it. My thought pattern is scattered because it is fast. That makes me jump from topic to topic when I speak & think because the thoughts come and go so fast. I rapidly switch topics with no transition and it leaves people confused. I can forget what I was saying shortly after beginning speaking. I don't mean normal forgetting. I mean a strange forgetting where no matter how hard I try I can't get the thought back. Normal forgetting you can remember it later. I can't do that. The thought is gone for good, never to return. bipolar.about.com webmd.com/bipolar-disorder/guide/hypomania-mania ...

*READ ME* Sound - Very beginning of the video, I layered small clips of the two songs I was listening to on my walk before I started speaking. The rest of this video is completely unedited. Pure honest mind splatter. This specific video, I wasn't going to put on YouTube at all. It's incredibly personal to me. This might be temporarily here. I don't know if I will eventually take it down within a week or so. It depends. This is a video from my current project at University which is about the triggers of my Bipolar Disorder, delving deep into my subconscious to look at the reasons why I am the way I am today and accepting it. It's a journey through realisation, forgiveness, consequence, rebirth, life and death. www.bipolaradvantage.com This video is the conclusion of the "Shocking Truth" video about bipolar disorder. If you already seen "Shocking Truth" you can skip to 3:15. The end of that video and the beginning of this one overlap. If you have not seen it you can go to www.youtube.com and start from there. Beyond Recovery, we enter the Freedom Stage where we begin to break free of the cycle of Crisis and Recovery. From there we graduate to Stability Stage and eventually achieve Self-Mastery. It will take slow and careful work with some set backs, but we will find ourselves comfortable and in control while experiencing increased flow of energy and information. States that previously created great disturbance and needed some form of intervention in the Managed Stage are now within our comfort zone. Real Stability means to maintain control in an ever wider range of experience. Some of us can even achieve stability across the entire range of the bipolar condition and live an extraordinary life. Self-Mastery is when we choose how to react to every stimulus. The stimulus can be internal or external, real or not, but the important thing is that we can make a conscious choice about how to act.

www.bipolaradvantage.com The current standard of care as defined by the National Institute of Mental Health is to minimize symptoms and accept the high probability of relapse. While many tools have been developed to effectively manage bipolar disorder, there are far too many people who are still living on the edge of relapse and suffering greatly from it. Even for those who achieve a level of remission that is commonly called recovery, they live in constant fear that one sleepless night can send them into another crisis. Trapped in a vicious cycle of Crisis, Managed, Recovery, and Relapse is the very definition of bipolar disorder and its depressive counterpart unipolar disorder. Even in Recovery, the illness is lurking behind every thought, waiting for the slightest chance to trigger a new episode. It consigns its victims to a lifetime of fear and constant vigilance in an attempt to keep the flow of energy and information at bay. It is interesting that so many people have a different word than "recovery" for the state where we are limited to the comfort zone of no high or low symptoms. They do not call it "recovery," they call it "bored." It is one of the major reasons that they slip back into the Managed Stage and risk another Crisis. This is why the National Institute of Mental Health says, "in spite of modern, evidence-based treatment, bipolar disorder remains a highly recurrent, predominantly depressive illness." The conclusion to this video is at http

I did not sleep. I don't feel that I am hypomanic. I just feel tired.

I decided that it is important for me to discuss bipolar. I want to express it in a general sense for people to understand it a little better. I also want to express MY bipolar and how bipolar effects me, my life, my "work" and everything and everyone in connection to it. So yah... this is my bipolar! A summary of facts and help with Bipolar Disorder can be found here- www.nimh.nih.gov This documentary was filmed and edited for my associate final project. There was alot of technical issues, with both the camera and the mic I used, which is why the quality isn't very good. I also had a hard time compressing the file small enough for youtube. The full size file does look and sound alot better. I may expand/improve this project later, with a better camera and more subjects to interview. Follow me on twitter! twitter.com
