( wakeup2thelies.com ) Alan Jones speaks with author of 'The Skeptical Environmentalist' & Adjunct Professor at the Copenhagen Business School Bjørn Lomborg Bjørn Lomborg and Alan Jones discuss ( 4:00 min introduction then the interview) • The carbon tax is symbolic & is not a solution to climate change • The carbon tax will not reduce the temperature of the globe • A global carbon tax would only reduce about 10% of our usage of fossil fuels • We need to make green energy cheep, not make fossil fuel more expensive • $3700 carbon price would bee needed by the turn of the century to make a carbon tax work • We are not going to see most countries move to a carbon tax • China is dramatically increasing their carbon emission • Wind and solar have limitations • Europe has done little to reduce emission & just moved emissions to China • We will be spending a lot of money to feel like we are tackling climate change but we are not • We should spend 0.2% of our GDP on green energy research not waste money on a pointless carbon tax • Call to business for financial support of Bjørn Lomborg's work Alan Jones's 2GB shows can be found here bit.ly My website wakeup2thelies.com Subscribe to my Youtube channel http Follow me on Twitter twitter.com Follow me on FaceBook on.fb.me

Bjorn Lomborg Discusses Global Warming part 1

Dr. Bjorn Lomborg is adjunct professor at the Copenhagen Business School and author of the best-selling "The Skeptical Environmentalist" in which he challenged mainstream concerns about the environment and pointed out that we need to focus attention on the most important problems first. Bjørn Lomborg cream pied by Mark Lynas

The Skeptical Environmentalist is a controversial book by Danish author Bjørn Lomborg. In oxford an environmentalist cream pied him in protest of his denial of climate change. Danish anti-environmentalist author Bjorn Lomborg today received his just desserts courtesy of a fellow writer enraged at his "dangerous and misleading" statements on crucial green issues. A pie was thrown in his face at Borders Bookshop in Oxford just after 7pm Sept 4 2001 Lomborg's heavily-promoted new book 'The Skeptical Environmentalist' claims variously that consumer waste isn't a problem, that species loss is minimal, and that it is far too expensive to do anything about global warming. Pie-man Mark Lynas said he was unable to ignore Lomborg's comments on climate change. "I wanted to put a Baked Alaska in his smug face," said Lynas, "in solidarity with the native Indian and Eskimo people in Alaska who are reporting rising temperatures, shrinking sea ice and worsening effects on animal and bird life."

An Evening with Bjørn Lomborg: Putting Global Warming into Perspective

An Evening with Bjørn Lomborg: Putting Global Warming into Perspective Speaker: Professor Bjørn Lomborg Respondent: Dimitri Zenghelis Chair: Professor Eric Neumayer This event was recorded on 16 February 2011 in New Theatre, East Building Global warming is real, but it is often presented one-sided and in exaggerated form. This leads to bad policies that will do little to tackle the warming at extremely high cost, as evidenced by the Kyoto protocol and the new EU promises. The breakdown at Copenhagen shows that we need smarter solutions focused on getting long-term solutions like renewables that are cheaper than fossil fuels. And finally, we should remember, that if we really want to help the world, there are many other and better things we could focus on first, like malnutrition, free trade, vaccines, education, agricultural technology, education etc. Bjørn Lomborg is adjunct professor at the Copenhagen Business School. He is the organiser of the Copenhagen Consensus Center, which brings together some of the world's top economists, including 5 Nobel laureates, to set priorities for the world. Time magazine named Lomborg one of the world's 100 most influential people in 2004. In 2008 he was named "one of the 50 people who could save the planet" by the UK Guardian; "one of the top 100 public intellectuals" by Foreign Policy and Prospect magazine; and "one of the world's 75 most influential people of the 21st century" by Esquire. Bjorn Lomborg & The Copenhagen Consensus: What's the best way to live with global warming?

What's the best way for humanity to reduce suffering from man-made global warming? No individual has been a stronger voice for rational cost-benefit analysis on this issue than Bjorn Lomborg, the head of Copenhagen Consensus Center, and author of The Skeptical Environmentalist and Cool It! On Thursday, September 3, 2009, Lomborg stopped by Reason's DC HQ to discuss the latest iteration of his ongoing project with Reason magazine science correspondent Ronald Bailey. The Copenhagen Consensus Center's expert panel of five top economists, including three Nobel laureates, has concluded that greater resources should be spent on research into climate engineering and green energy. They also concluded that the least cost-effective way to deal with climate change is carbon taxes. Such carbon taxes are the economic equivalent of cap-and-trade carbon rationing schemes like the Waxman-Markey bill being considered by Congress and which are being negotiated by the UN The expert panel consisted of Nobel laureate economists Thomas Schelling, Vernon Smith, and Finn Kydland. They were joined by University of Chicago economist Nancy Stokey and Columbia University economist Jagdish Bhagwati. The panel considered and ranked 21 ground-breaking research proposals by top climate economists on the basis their benefits and costs in dealing with global warming. Approximatley four minutes. Shot by Dan Hayes and Meredith Bragg; edited by Dan Hayes . Next week, Reason.tv will run a longer version of ...

Skeptical environmentalist Lomborg declares that global warming is a chief concern facing the world, but says we should focus our resources on more immediate concerns like fighting poverty and HIV/AIDS. INFORUM is hosting a pre-release screening of Cool It, the film based on Lomborg's 2007 book, which outlines Lomborg's climate solutions. Are these the same solutions that the Sierra Club's Pope would offer up? Probably not. This pair of environment advocates will tackle the issues in an exclusive discussion after the screening. Find out what happens when the environment's devout defender meets the climate change critic.

PART 2 - Michael Pawlyn debate with Bjorn Lomborg at the BCO 2009 conference

Michael Pawlyn, founder of architectural practice Exploration, delivered this robust response to Bjorn Lomborg at the BCO's 2009 Conference. Speaking after Lomborg in a plenary session titled 'Greenpoint or greenwash: The environment in a recession', Pawlyn methodically dismantled the Lomborg analysis and exposed the questionable use of statistics. The Exploration team had carefully prepared for the debate through extensive research. The talk is in three parts. Bjorn Lomborg did not consent to his presentation being filmed so, anyone unfamiliar with his arguments can view the first half of this 'Authors at Google' talk that he gave in September 2007 or his shorter talk on TED.com .
