Chelsea 4-0 Blackburn Rovers | The FA Youth Cup Final Highlights First Leg 20/04/2012

Chelsea 4-0 Blackburn Rovers The FA Youth Cup The Final First Leg 7pm, Friday 20 April 2012 Stamford Bridge, Chelsea FC Chelsea made big strides towards lifting The FA Youth Cup this season, with a comprehensive victory over Blackburn Rovers in the first-leg of The Final at Stamford Bridge on Friday evening. Two goals in the first-half from captain Nathaniel Chalobah and Lewis Baker put them in control, before a brace from Islam Feruz after the break was enough to give Adi Viveash's team a solid advantage ahead of the second-leg at Ewood Park in early May. Whilst the scoreline may suggest the home side dominated this game, that wasn't always the case and they had goalkeeper Jamal Blackman to be grateful to on several occasions, with the England U19 international making a number of good saves to earn a his side a clean sheet. Chelsea: 1 Jamal Blackman, 2 Todd Kane, 3 Alex Davey, 4 Nathan Ake, 5 Adam Nditi, 6 Nathaniel Chalobah (c ), 7 Amin Affane (12 Alex Kiwomya, 53), 8 John Swift, 9 Islam Feruz (Reece Mitchell, 78), 10 Lewis Baker, 11 Lucas Piazon. Cities in Focus - Blackburn in Lancashire.

Taking the camera around the city streets to record some of the changing architecture happening during the massive redevelopment of the central area. Once a thriving mill town Blackburn was hit hard when this industry failed. It has one of the highest Muslem communities in England yet in the centre of the city you would not appreciate this. Opened today, 1st June 2011, the new market hall beneath the existing shopping mall sees the fruition of one of the biggest redevelopment projects so far. Tottenham 2-0 Blackburn - Steve Kean on Premiership survival | Premier League 2012

Tottenham moved back into fourth place in the Premier League as they beat a poor Blackburn side whose relegation fears increased with the defeat. Rafael van der Vaart lashed Spurs ahead with a close-range shot after Gareth Bale's header came back off the bar. A William Gallas near-post header also struck the crossbar as Spurs dominated. Kyle Walker curled in an exquisite 25-yard free-kick to secure a home win against second-from-bottom Rovers, who did not muster a single attempt. After one win in nine, Tottenham knew they needed a victory after Chelsea had overtaken them with a win against QPR and the White Hart Lane outfit duly rose to the challenge as they leapfrogged the Blues and Newcastle to regain fourth spot. Spurs will now hope they can continue their return to form and finish third, as they know fourth place will not be good enough for a Champions League spot if Chelsea win the final of Europe's top club competition on 19 May. Blackburn had the incentive of drawing level with relegation rivals Bolton and QPR but, while there was plenty to admire about Spurs, Rovers succumbed in a fashion which left ominous signs that the drop looms. The visitors have the worst record in the top flight for conceding goals on the road and, after quickly retreating under Tottenham's pressure, they soon surrendered the lead. A long-range Sandro shot smacked against the crossbar before Bale's header from Aaron Lennon's cross came off the woodwork and Van der Vaart pounced. It was a ...

Samba defends move to Anzhi from Blackburn

Congolese defender Chistopher Samba says a lot of work has to be done if he is to fulfil his dream of playing in the Champions League with his new side Anzhi Makhachkala from Russia's southern republic of Dagestan. The 27-year-old made a winning start to his stint in the Russia Premier League, after Anzhi beat Dynamo 1-0, just outside Moscow, on March 5th. Samba joined Guus Hiddink's side in a reported 20-million-dollar move, in February.

Man United 2-0 Blackburn 2/4/2012 Valencia & Young

Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young struck in the final 10 minutes to send Manchester United five points clear at the top of the Barclays Premier League. It looked like being a frustrating night for United, who dominated for long periods but failed to get closer than an early Javier Hernandez shot that struck a post. Indeed, David de Gea made a string of fine saves to repel Blackburn counter-attacks before Valencia and Young struck near the end. Wayne Rooney had been selected on the left of a three-man attack but dropped deep to start to early move that ended with Scott Dann heading Antonio Valencia's cross away from danger. Then, after a period of Blackburn pressure that ended with David de Gea rushing a clearance as Yakubu Aiyegbeni closed in, Rooney dropped a long ball over Grant Hanley to Javier Hernandez, who fired a difficult first-time shot wide. Jones then crossed for Rooney, who mis-hit his effort. Michael Carrick found Rafael with a superb through ball but the youngster wanted too much time and Hanley slid in to rob him. Hernandez darted to the near post to meet Valencia's low cross but his shot hit the woodwork before Paul Robinson gratefully grabs the loose ball as it was about to bounce over the line. Carrick then tried his luck from the edge of the area but his curling shot was just too high. United were finding far too much room in wide positions, although their willingness to attack almost proved to be their undoing as Junior Hoilett curled an excellent shot ...

Blackburn Manager Steve Kean calling Sam Allardyce a "crook"....

Steve Kean is at the centre of an internet storm over a video which apparently shows him making disparaging remarks about Sam Allardyce, his predecessor as Blackburn Rovers manager. The four-minute clip, which appeared on YouTube as well as the website of a Rovers fan group named BRFC Action Group, was apparently filmed during Rovers' tour of the Far East last summer. As well as remarks about Allardyce, who employed Kean as his number three, the video also appears to show him talking about discovering Phil Jones in the club's academy. It also appears to show the Scot predicting Rovers would finish in the top half of the Barclays Premier League table and win the Carling Cup. In the end Rovers finished second-bottom and were relegated to the Championship. Attempts to contact Rovers proved unsuccessful tonight.

Blackburn 0-1 Wigan - Kean wants to stay - Premier League

Blackburn have been relegated to the Championship after losing at home to Wigan, whose Premier League status is secure for next season. Antolin Alcaraz headed the Latics to victory from a corner late on a rainy and rancorous night at Ewood Park. Only a win would have given Rovers a chance of avoiding the drop but they were sloppy and shot-shy. The visitors were lively in the first half, less so in the second, but took their chance to claim a decisive win. It is a remarkable sixth victory in eight games for the Latics and leaves them five points clear of the relegation zone with one game left to play. The result brings about a disastrous conclusion to what has been a turbulent season for Blackburn and their manager Steve Kean and an end to their 11-year stay in the Premier League. The Scot has regularly been the focal point for abuse from frustrated Rovers fans, unhappy with his management and the way the club is being run by the owners, Indian poultry firm Venky's. This continued on Monday in the form of mass chanting throughout, a lone fan invading the pitch at the start of the second half and, presumably, the reason why a chicken draped in a Blackburn flag appeared in the Wigan box five minutes into the game and had to be caught by Latics goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi. The goal four minutes from time heightened calls for Kean's sacking and the exit of Venky's, which only increased when the final whistle blew to confirm Rovers' fate. Venky's looked set to be rewarded for ...

Blackburn 1-1 Aston Villa - Kean on better second half | Premier League 2012

David Dunn's late header gave Blackburn a vital point as Aston Villa missed the chance to ease their fears of being dragged into a survival scrap. Villa dominated before the break and led when Charles N'Zogbia slammed home after Carlos Cuellar's fine solo run. Blackburn improved after half-time and Shay Given had to keep out a thunderous volley from Morten Gamst Pedersen. With five minutes left, Rovers' pressure told when Bradley Orr's cross found Dunn to nod home at the far post. It was a breathless finish to a game that Villa should have wrapped up before the break, such was their dominance. The draw means Alex McLeish's men remain 15th and eight points clear of the cluster of sides at the bottom of the table after a run of five Premier League games without a win. Villa's poor form was not the only reason for their fans' concern ahead of their trip to Ewood Park, with their side having to cope without key strikers Darren Bent, through injury, and Robbie Keane, who has returned to the United States after his loan spell. But they made the most of a slow start by Blackburn, who saw another protest against owners, the Venky's, and manager Steve Kean outside the ground before kick-off. Gabriel Agbonlahor brought a couple of early stops from Paul Robinson and it was no surprise when N'Zogbia broke the deadlock after 24 minutes. /football on Youtube brings you the latest football news, transfer rumours and footballing gossip from the English Premier League and European ...

David Dunne on future as a manger - Blackburn v Newcastle | Premier League

Blackburn midfielder David Dunn is expected to return after a hip injury but striker Yakubu is suspended. Chris Samba's involvement is in doubt after the defender handed in a transfer request last week. Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye could figure after the club decided to contest his three-match ban. Fabricio Coloccini returns after a groin strain but Demba Ba and new signing Papiss Cisse are not yet back from international duty. Blackburn's respite from the relegation zone may have proved brief but their return of seven points from the last 12 available at least suggests they might be on the road to recovery. However, with trips to Arsenal and Manchester City among their next three games after this one, they could find themselves in a relegation cul-de-sac unless they get something from Newcastle's visit on Wednesday evening. Rovers should at least be fresh after having the FA Cup weekend off, although it will no doubt be a relief for Steve Kean to get back to on-pitch matters after a month of transfer speculation over his higher-profile players, including want-away captain Christopher Samba. After stumbling through December, Newcastle appeared to be back on form with three wins from four league matches but their two most recent games have seen them thumped 5-2 by Fulham and dumped out of the FA Cup by Championship side Brighton. To add insult to injury, influential midfielder Yohan Cabaye faces a three-match ban after being retrospectively charged with violent conduct by the ...
