Filipina singer/actress Sharon Cuneta did an acoustic rehash of the song on her 2001 album Nothing I Want More. In 2002, guitarist Blake Aaron covered the song on his album With Every Touch. In 2005, Canadian singer Corneille performed the song on his live concert DVD.

The Burger King Franchise has been accused of pushing racial commercials before, but in its new ad campaign, which features movie and pop stars eating in Burger King restaurants. The fast food chain, which is losing out to rivals, hired Salma Hayek, Jay Leno, David Beckham and Mary J. Blige to revive its fortunes. The Burger King adverts try to convince the public that famous people are just like them - and enjoy healthier fast food choices eating burgers,burger king chicken fries, and drinking milk-shakes in Burger King restaurants. However, the Blige spot, in which the rapper gets on top of a Burger King table and sings: "Crispy chicken, fresh lettuce, three cheeses, ranch dressing, wrapped up in a tasty flour tortilla", has suffered a huge backlash. Critics claim the ad plays into uncomfortable stereotypes by having a black woman sing about chicken. One, Madame Noire, also hit out at Blige for doing the ad: "You know what desperate execs do when they need to make money? They hurriedly throw together clichéd, often stereotypical, racist advertising campaigns. And that's where you came in, Mary. Having a black woman sing about chicken was no mistake. They're trying to reach the 'urban' (aka black) demographic. And God knows black folk, won't buy anything unless there's a song, and preferably a dance, attached to it.
