Audio from NTSB Press breifing The National Transportation Safety Board held a press briefing today at 4:00 pm EST on its investigation into the crash near Buffalo of a Bombardier Dash 8- Q400 twin-engine turboprop operated by Colgan Air, Inc. as Continental Connection flight 3407. NTSB Member Steven Chealander will conduct the briefing. The briefing was held at the Buffalo Marriott Niagara, 1340 Millerport Highway, Amherst, NY, in ballroom 5 on the first floor. A federal aviation official says the plane that crashed into a house near Buffalo, killing 50 people, was on autopilot when it went down, a possible violation of airline policy. Steve Chealander of the National Transportation Safety Board says Colgan Air recommends pilots fly manually in icy conditions. Pilots are required to do so in severe ice. The pilot of doomed plane reported "significant" ice on his wings and windshield just before crashing Thursday night. AviationExplorer.com - Colgan Air Flight 3407 marketed as Continental Connection under a code share agreement with Continental Airlines, was a daily US regional airline commuter flight from Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey to Buffalo Niagara International Airport in New York State. A Bombardier DHC8-402 Q400 (DASH-8) operating as Flight 3407 departed late from Newark on February 12, 2009, at 9 pm EST. Shortly after the last communication by the flight crew with approach control at 10:17 pm the plane stalled less than a mile northeast of the locator outer marker while on an ILS approach to Runway 23 and crashed into a house in the northeast Buffalo suburb of Clarence Center about 5.0 nautical miles short of the runway threshold. A total of 50 people were killed including the two pilots, two flight attendants, 45 passengers (including one off-duty pilot), and one person in the house into which the plane crashed. It was the first fatal crash of a commercial airliner in the United States since the crash of Comair Flight 191 in August 2006 which killed 49. The National Transportation Safety Board concluded that cause of the crash was pilot error.

Finally I'm back!!!!! Its been a long3 time since my last airplane video. This one is actually from summer 2009, maybe around 12th June. I encountered some trouble synchronizing the audio with the video, there was a discrepancy of a staggering 6 seconds after conversion to wmv for editing. But I am back for now, and thanks very much for your support and great comments. Love y'all :) Anyway, took off from runway 22. It was a gloomy Belfast summer that was actually very bright up there in the sky. Quite a busy day with 4 planes on the ground of BHD.

Landing on runway 15. A stark contrast to gloomy Belfast, the weather here was just glorious. The descend was quite an interesting one, I'm pretty sure we did encircled the airport few time before final approach. I might be wrong though, the sky was so cloudy and I lose my bearing. The pilot have more that 2 km of runway to make the landing smooth, and I think he did a great job :)

A terrifying moment was captured on tape by a Toronto-area family as a Continental Airlines flight lost one of its right wheels upon landing at Buffalo International Airport. The dramatic video of Flight 3268 was taken by a passenger and obtained by the Toronto Sun. It shows the plane en route from Newark arriving in Buffalo on Tuesday night. As first seen on torontosun.com yesterday, the video shows a tire and a piece of the wheel assembly detaching from the landing gear, shortly after touchdown. The Canadian-made Q400 Bombardier turbo-prop, which has had a recent association with technical glitches, was the aircraft that crashed near Buffalo in February of this year, killing 50 people. However, investigators in that crash are looking at pilot error as the possible cause. On Tuesday, the Downsview-made plane with 73 passengers and crew was descending over Buffalo just after 6 pm when ashes and debris were seen falling from the wheel as it was lowered, passengers said yesterday. "I was scared and the other passengers looked worried too," one passenger said. "For a moment I thought the worst in that we may not make it." The 37-second video shows smoke and small pieces of material being shot out from a wheel assembly before the entire tire flew off, leaving the aircraft with one tire on its right side. This is because the camera could not capture the speed of the of the spinning. Catch a great view from the air of the burnoffs, which were referred to as the park rangers as Prescribed Burning. This supposedly means that they had an idea that the burnoffs could go out of control. When we landed it was extremely windy and this wind caused the controlled burnoff to become a bushfire which endangered the lives of people staying on Kingfisher Resort on Fraser Island. This also closed the main tourist attraction, Lake Mackenzie, unfortunately on the island. You catch a great view of these burnoffs at around the early to late middle part of the video from the air.

DASH 8 Q400 Landing at Arlanda rwy 19L + Taxing to the gate. After the incidents in denmark, all 27 of these were withdrawn. SAS just maked a new order from bombardier, 14 of the planes will be Q400 NextGen. It will be nice to see the Dash again ! :)
