
TsuShiMaMiRe warms up the crowd for Peelander-Z at the Black Market In El Paso, TX on 11.3.10. Sorry about the poor audio quality - my Sony just can't handle 120+ dB without an external mic, and there was no way I was going to risk my Rode in the crowded environment - as it was, I was hit in the face twice (one by Peelander Red), and the camera nearly bit the dust a few times. TsuShiMaMiRe is: Guitar/Vocal : Mari Bass/Chorus: Yayoi Drums/Chorus: Mizue From their Facebook page: Blending elements of rock, punk, Avant Garde, free jazz, ska, surf, and that funky "je ne sais quoi" possessed by many Japanese girl bands, TsuShiMaMiRe comprises Yayoi (bass), Mari (guitar and vocals), and Mizue (drums). The band was formed in 1999 when the girls were still in college. While performing at local venues, TsuShiMaMiRe recorded the demo singles "Hamburger Set" (1999) and "Bloody Mohawk" (2001). The band signed a recording deal with a Tokyo based independent record label, Benten Label (Petty Booka, Titan Go King's) and released the first album "Pregnant Fantasy" in the summer 2004. In the same year, the girls joined Bleach, Noodles, and Kokeshi Doll on a 2004 US tour, including the obligatory stop at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival in Austin, TX. TsuShiMaMiRe experienced six US tours with over 150 live shows by 2010.
