4/1/2012 BFD on scene of a early morning structure fire.The call came in at 10:25am which brought Engines 1,2,5 and Tower 1. When E1 pulled out of Fire Hedquaters they could see Heavy smoke showing, when they arrived there was heavy fire showing from the "A" side with exposures on the "AB" corner of the structure. This is the video I took of the same cloud that touched down in bristol as a tornado on july 21st. It is taken from the southington/cheshire border looking north at 5:22 PM. The Bristol tornado touchdown was at 4:30ish and so this is the "death" of the thing as it disaptes back into the sky. The cloud comes from the east, and judging from the lightening strike and thunder at the end of the video it was about a mile north of me. The video is poor quality and does the thing no justice at all... it came out of nowhere and the whole sky was literally spinning - this thing was massive and dark and low as hell. The link below is to a picture with better resolution and gives a little bit better idea of what it looked like. imgur.com (picture) Sorry for my lame commentary, I was basically thinking aloud and trying my hardest not to constantly swear. I was skeptical that it was the tornado until I heard the confirmations from the news/national weather service the next day and checked the times on the Doppler maps. I could still be wrong on the details, but either way it was a hell of a sight.
