Brian Bromberg - Portrait of Tracy

Track 5 From The "Jaco" Album Brian Bromberg was born December 5th, 1960 in Tucson Arizona. He grew up in a family of musicians and artists. His father and brother played the drums. With all that music around the house, and drums all over the place, it was natural for Brian to start playing the drums as well. Brian was two and a half years old, beating up the furniture and banging on anything that didn't move. After some years of playing and practicing, Brian began his professional career as a drummer at the age of thirteen. In elementary and Jr. High School, Brian also played the cello. That was one instrument that Brian did not feel very comfortable playing. One day in orchestra class at jr. high, the orchestra director came over to Brian and said, hey Brian, you see that big bass over there in the corner? You know that nobody is playing it. Don't you want to play that big cool bass over there? You see, the orchestra director had a plan. He thought that having one bad bass player was better then not having one at all. That was his way of getting Brian to stop trying to saw his cello in half! That day was a blessing in disguise. Brian didn't realize that he had the gift for melody as well as rhythm. With his drumming background, and all this new melody available to him from the bass, Brian knew that this was going to be his path. From ages fourteen to eighteen, Brian locked himself up in a room and practiced day and night. Testing out of high school early and devoting ...

Mr Bojangles ~ David Bromberg w/ vIDeo of New Orleans 75 years old

DAVID BROMBERG: "This is really a true story, you know, a lot of people have heard the song, and... Well, at least, Jerry Jeff tells me it's a true... true story. I played guitar with Jerry Jeff Walker for about two years and we... we did this song every night for two years., and I never got tired of it. Jerry got a little tired of it -- at night, after the clubs would close, we'd do horrible things to it... 'Twas a true story, he... this guy, Bojangles, was a... he was a street dancer in New Orleans, and what he'd do, he'd go from bar to bar and... he'd put money in the juke box, or get somebody else to do it... And then he'd either dance or pantomime the tune. And for that, people would buy him drinks and get him pretty drunk, and then he'd go on to the next bar, and the next one, until it was closing time... and then he'd go on, the next night. After a few nights of this, he'd end up on the corner, and the cops would pick him up and then take him to the drunk tank -- this is where Jerry Jeff met him. Jerry Jeff wasn't there on a research project -- I mean, the way I got that story, I may have that wrong, but the way I got that is that he propositioned the right woman at the right time and the wrong place -- and her husband, the bartender... called the cops, and they took Jerry to the... Parish jail. And he and this guy just talked for three days in the cell about what've you got... " David Bromberg's version of this song is my favorite. Try and listen to the end as the ...

DAVID BROMBERG: UNSUNG TREASURE TRAILER.mov

www.goodfootageproductions.com 73MIN |COLOR |HD|2011 Bending musical genres, collaborating with Dylan, Harrison, Garcia, and hundreds more, for the first time, we take an in depth look at New York American roots musician, David Bromberg's rise to fame and contribution to music. Suffering from burnout, Bromberg disappears in 1980's to become a full-time violin maker, collector and appraiser. He calls on musician friends (among Levon Helm,Vince Gill, Dr. John) to record a new CD. He resettles and opens a violin shop in Wilmington, DE where he actively helps bring music to its poor, once- culturally rich downtown. As he begins his musical comeback, he records an album that was recently nominated for a Grammy. Bromberg's musical life is reignited as downtown Wilmington, DE begins to shimmer once again.
