NitroPlanes has a Brushless edition of the A-10. I decided to mount their "GumPack" Video camera on board for the maiden flight. Here is what happened. This A-10 has these statistics. Length 872 MM Wingspan: 968 MM Weight: 450 Gram Battery: 11.1V, 1.5 Amp Lipo Radio: 72 MHz, Channel ESC: 2, 20 Amp GLs Pretty impressive performance with great handling, even in the wind. Missing a small wood piece, was basically all that I found wrong and that was an easy thing to make. I'm not crazy about the radio on 72 Mhz, but all in all this plane looks nice and flies nicely for me. The 18 Gram Camera is totally cool. Very small, it had a 2Gig card with it and was easy to mount and operate in the bright daylight. You can see for yourself how the video came out. As the vehicle loses its ability to adhere to the ground, you flick the sterring wheel, sliding the tail out. My mates and I have a lunchtime RC speed competition going. Until today the record was 99.9 KPH held by Dave's HoBao GPX4. As brushless officially smokes nitro I had to regain bragging rights so I put 25/54 gearing in the E-Revo and took it down to the pit straight of the old Formula 1 circuit. I am still using off road HoBao racing tyres and they are un-taped. Partly because I am too lazy to bake them off and partly because the ballooning gives you extra top speed. You can clearly hear the sound of tortured rubber as it passes by, but I've got to hand it to these tyres: apart from a small hole they held together. Much more durable than the stock Talons which gave up at 80 KPH.

homemade single phase brushless motor from a 1.83mm diameter x 1mm long magnet. weight is 35mg with prop. prop is spinning at about 36000 RPM. this was eventually used to power this plane: www.youtube.com this works similar to a computer cooling fan, which is brushless but only has two wires (+,-). on brushless motors a sensor of some kind is needed to operate the motor correctly. this is because the motor has no physical way to determine its angular position (unlike brushed motors), this information is needed to tell the motor when to energize the different coil windings or phases which makes it spin continuously. on three phase motors the "sensor" is just one of the 3 phases (depending on the angular position of the motor). each phase is just a coil of wire. all the phases are connected in such a way that 3 wires come from the motor to connect to the controller board or ESC. the ESC switches power to two coils at any given time and uses the third as the "sensing coil" where it detects a small electrical charge generated in the coil by the spinning motor. this can be used to infer an angular position if you know information about the motor and do a bit of math. on these two wire motors the sensor is located on the motor itself (as well as other electronics to control the spin). this sensor is usually in the form of a hall-effect sensor which measures electromagnetic fields. the third wire can then be eliminated and only a constant power source can be given to the motor <b>...</b>

The MP9E features many of the same drivetrain and suspension components as the renowned MP9 nitro buggy, so it's well equipped to handle the big torque and high speeds of brushless electric power. Key elements of the chassis, however, are modified or redesigned to make the MP9E ideally suited for brushless electric power. The drivetrain features chrome-moly universal driveshafts and ring and pinion gears, all of which is supported by high-quality Japanese NMB precision bearings. The MP9E features a new chassis made from 7075 T6 aluminum with a black anodized finish. Additionally, elements of the radio and battery tray plug all but one of the openings in the bottom of the chassis plate. A single slot remains in the chassis for spur gear clearance. This allows the differential to remain as low as possible to minimize the center of gravity. A newly designed motor mount allows quick removal and installation of any popular 1/8 brushless motor. Additionally, the motor mount is designed to permit adjustment by loosening two screws from the top of the chassis. It's not necessary to loosen any screws from the bottom of the chassis to adjust the gear mesh. A combination ESC and battery tray features a large area for mounting the big speed controls that are common in the 1/8 brushless category. The wires for the ESC are routed between the battery tray and the chassis plated through a secure channel, which will ensure that the wires don't become entangled in the drivetrain, and it <b>...</b>

I tried the truck out on some dirt and was happy with handling characteristics. The suspension soaked up most of the bumps except for the big ruts and 40-50mph speeds. I was surprised at how well the revo stays on it's feet while traveling at extremely fast speeds.
