As the show came to a close, Blackmore - angered by troubles back-stage - took his revenge on one of the cameras, before exploding his amps and destroying several guitars. It made for a visually astonishing climax to the set, and almost got the band banned from playing live in America again...

I know I said I wasn't going to be posting anymore videos for awhile, but today I was doing a little surfing on YouTube and came across a video by Randi2244 that was an audio recording of "Snowblind" at Cali. Jam '74. A great post, but the her audio is much more booming sounding than my copy of California Jam. No big deal though, until a gentleman by the name of "Calijamscott" decided to give his "expert opinion" on it since he supposedly did the sound for the ABC TV special on it. He says Randi2244's post was NOT California Jam. Naturally, I doubted this assumption, so I decided to give my copy of California Jam a listen. My copy is different than Randi2244 in that it contains all the pre and post-song ramblings by Ozzy. Some bootleg versions edit these out. Others leave them in. Plus, the mix on mine is more raw sounding and less boomy. Randi's copy is no more than a different boot of the same show. Anyway, I gave them a listen and picked out certain parts of the audio...and guess what?...they are IDENTICAL. I informed this gentleman that he was wrong, but yet still insists otherwise. So I leave it to you guys to listen to both and tell me what you think. This has been something I've had for a long, long time, and every single time I've traded it, the person I've sent this to has been blown away at the upgrade from whatever source they had owned before. Since I've not seen this show on Dime, and folks claim that this is THE DEFINITIVE COPY, I thought I'd post it. Instead of posting a CD copy of the tape that I had, I borrowed the tape from the person I got my copy from. I'm glad I did, as his tape turned out to be a very old Maxell Metal particle tape, which is the way he rec'd it from a Zep trader at least 20 years ago. I've heard of several different boot LP's that have been made of this show, and this is supposedly not from any of those. The recording is so clean and sharp that you can really hear every minute thing that happens on stage,,,,,comments that Ozzy makes under his breath, guitars being plugged and unplugged, every little thing, very loud and clear. This is me doing an improvisation over the chords to the verse section of Dani California by the legendary Red Hot Chili Peppers, who are probably one of my biggest influences as a guitarist. Who knows, maybe one day I'll be able to jam like Frusciante. This was actually just supposed to be warm up for another tune I was going to do, it was just to test out lighting and warm up. But I gave up on the other song, so I've just uploaded this for now. I know it's not great, but it's just a little fun. I'm not going over board on bends in this vid because the guitar is a Fender Squire, so naturally it don't stay in tune. I recorded this with my Micro Br. The chords direct in, but for the improvisation I ran a Vox 847 wah pedal, Boss CS3 compressor and a GE7 equalizer through it first. The amp was my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, but technically you don't hear any of that apart from when I'm messing around at the very end. Let me know what you think. It was the last of the original wave of rock festivals. My vision with the Dead Chiropractic Societys California Jam is to have a huge wellness festival with over 50000 people at Anaheim Stadium. The goal is to attract no only DCs, CAs, chiropractic students, but other wellness professionals and the world wide community. We will use music as a medium to attract crowds but more importantly we will headline the worlds greatest speakers on wellness so people will finally get "the Big Idea." Build it and they will come.
