Canterbury - Gloria (OFFICIAL)

The official music video for Canterbury's new single Gloria. www.canterburythankyou.com http www.facebook.com A huge thank you to Ian Oakley and the Jabez team for the use of their equipment in the making of this video! To Barney, Jules and the West End Centre team for the use of their facilities! And as always to Nick Prebble for being their to help do the job! O yeah, and Steve Parker for being bored enough to come hang out and then end up helping with play back! LYRICS: You've got this thing in your mind and it's all for the best. I've got this thing in mine and it starts from the chest beating, force feeding lines meaning I'm out of time. Time was a thing that we thought was a thing that we had. I'm getting waist high, I'm half full, starting to flood. I don't want this thing to overflow. If you believe what's said in secret, say yes to me when I ask you now. Do you want to dance tonight? Do you want to cross the line? Well I tripped and I fell and landed straight at your feet, from down here i'd say the line's looking blurry to none. Well blurry lines in my eyes make me willing to cross, but blurry minds make me feel uneasy. Heart warming, sweet talking reasons I'm over the line. Lying alone feels wrong but it's all for the best, it could be worse, we could both be lying. Even with miles of rope, i still wouldn't have a hope if I started going down by the head. But you're a lifeboat, safe and stable. Let me in, a sail away for two.

Canterbury - More Than Know (OFFICIAL)

Canterbury - More Than Know, released 31.10.11 Masks courtesy of: www.teonova.com LYRICS I'm taking steps to jump inside, You're trying hard to read my mind. Tiny footsteps, one at a time Are trying hard to walk the line. Yeah I should more than know I should more than know we are out of control We are out of control. I'm making jumps to step outside. I've got the feeling that it's you I believe in, you ease my mind. But I've got aching shoulders, and my toes are sore Because you keep me on them how could I ask for more? Yeah I should more than know I should more than know we are out of control We are out of control. In preparation I've been making plans of my hands We should know by now (how to) take control somehow The separation of our hands leaves me in bits now but I don't mind, yeah I said I don't mind because they're tied behind my back for now. Yeah I should more than know I should more than know we are out of control We are out of control.

England - Canterbury

The city of Canterbury, or as the Romans called it -- Durovernum Cantiacorum, lies in Kent in the southeast region of England. Pope Gregory the Great sent Augustine to the area in 597 AD to convert the heathen English, and after asking permission of King Athelbert of Kent, Augustine built his priory on the present cathedral grounds. Thomas Becket, archbishop of Canterbury, was murdered in the building in 1170. The cathedral has grown massive over the years and is now the oldest church in England that's still in use. The city is charming, with great shopping and tremendous history and heritage, and it's a lot more fun than it was when Geoffrey Chaucer wrote "The Canterbury Tales" in 1387.

Canterbury - Ready Yet?

LYRICS: Ready yet? I've been chasing papers in my sleep. Just another week, i just want to sleep but I'm chasing... 34 pages of papers incomplete, language obsolete, disguised so fucking weak Now I'm racing. I left my world with nothing to lose (SIT TIGHT!) Sat tight and realised i've got nothing to do. Holding onto promises and trusting a few Alright i'm never trusting you. Place a bet on the way that we play this kind of thing. Enter with a grin, preventing anything from happening. So can you fill the frames, with the places and faces that you meet? All the clowns you greet, shrinking at your feet Now they're wasted. I left my world with nothing to lose (SIT TIGHT) Sat tight and realised i've got nothing to do. Holding onto promises and trusting a few Alright i'm never trusting you. I lost control when i lost my mind (CATCH UP) Caught up to realise that i've been left behind. Only this momentous when not trying to hide. I'm only trusting me this time! Ready yet?

Cathedral - Murder at Canterbury

For More Great Documentaries please visit www.DocuFans.com and support the site The history of Britain and the aspirations of her Christian communities can be traced in the glorious excesses of the cathedrals. From Norman grandeur to the modern interpretations found in Liverpool and Coventry, explore the changing styles of the cathedrals in our midst. A 5 part series that takes a looks at the ingenuity behind the construction of Britain's most famous cathedrals, using CGI and reconstructions to describe the dramatic stories of riot, fire, war, murder, and flood that shaped the history of these impressive masterpieces. Episodes: Murder at Cantebury - Canterbury was at the forefront of an architectural revolution - the first Gothic cathedral to be built in Britain. But the building we know today has its origins in the most infamous murder of the medieval age - Thomas Becket in 1170. After his death a devastating fire meant that Canterbury could be rebuilt as a shrine to the martyred archbishop. This is the cathedral as theatre with the story of the murder etched in stone, marble and glass. It takes the pilgrim on a journey from darkness into light - from the horrors of the slaying in the North transept to the new Trinity Chapel where Becket was reburied in a magnificent tomb sparkling with gold and precious stones. Redemption at Lincoln - When Lincoln's original cathedral was destroyed by an earthquake in 1185, King Henry II believed it was a message from God, a warning to ...

A Canterbury Tale - 1944 - The Archers

A wonderful film, as you might expect, from the cinema's greatest directorial duo. It's unique in mood and pace amongst the many Archers films that I've seen. The others move at a brisk pace, going from one plot element to the next. No harm in that, of course. It works very well for films like One of Our Aircraft Is Missing, I Know Where I'm Going!, A Matter of Life and Death and the others. A Canterbury Tale, on the other hand, stops and smells the roses as it leisurely - and semi-plotlessly - strolls through the English countryside on the trail to Canterbury Cathedral. Three young people, an American GI named Bob Johnson (Seargant John Sweet), a British soldier, Peter Gibbs (Dennis Price), and a young woman from London, Alison Smith (Sheila Sim), moving to the countryside for work. The all arrive in the small town of Kent on the same train, and they walk together trying to find the hotel. An assailant pops out of nowhere in the impenetrable dark and throws glue all over Alison's hair. Over the next few days they look for "the Glueman." The film doesn't always work, especially concerning the Glueman subplot, which almost seems like it is the plot for most of the movie. The investigation and solution are the weakest scenes in the film. But there are dozens of gorgeous sequences within the film. I especially love the sequence with the children playing war. The film gets especially good during its extended finale, where the three (actually four) main characters go to ...

The Canterbury Scene: An Interview with Steve Hillage & Daevid Allen - BBC South

www.bbc.co.uk One of the Canterbury Scene's main men, Daevid Allen talks about how his travels brought him to Canterbury and being part of the Scene. Australian born Daevid Allen is one of the Canterbury Scene's leading men. He came to England in the very early sixties, arriving in Canterbury via London. He's best known as the leader of the Canterbury band Gong. In this interview he talks about how his travels brought him to Canterbury and whether or not he thinks there was ever a 'Canterbury Scene'. Guitarist and singer Steve Hillage came to Canterbury in 1969 to attend university. Within weeks he'd found his way into the Canterbury Scene. Steve was studying History and Philosophy but spent a good deal of time jamming with other musicians active on the scene in those years. He was particularly friendly with the members of Caravan, and through them he was able to get a record deal. Steve Hillage talks about his early days in Canterbury. The Archbishop of Canterbury on the Royal Wedding

Speaking in a short film produced by Lambeth Palace, the Archbishop of Canterbury talks about the sense of hopefulness and generosity which lie at the heart of marriage, and what this also tells us about the 'mystery' and 'delight' which can be found in this life-time commitment. Dr Williams, who will be conducting the marriage ceremony at Westminster Abbey on Friday 29th, also describes the sense of privilege he feels about his own role in the royal wedding. Canterbury - Saviour

Available to buy digitally from May 14th on iTunes and www.CanterburyThankYou.com alongside b-sides Smile and Where The Good Luck Takes Me. LYRICS: I've been making waves, waves you can't ignore. I've been changing tides, I've got the ocean on the line it needs advice from me. Clockwork currency changing with the sun. If I had the power I would stockpile every hour in a house somewhere. Are we just wasting away? Are we just wasting the day? Have we just wasted the daylight? You never seem to be so concerned, I never seem to get out my words, I'll try again. I've been losing pounds, I'm sick of doing it all the time. If the years worked with me I would figure out a way of making money from you. I could spend you all the time, I'd make a million more than once. When I can't find myself then I just picture someone else, they call it "living the dream". Are we just wasting away? Are we just wasting the day? Have we just wasted the daylight? You never seem to be so concerned I never seem to get out my words right, I'll try again. NOW PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR FOR YOUR SAVIOUR! I THINK I'VE GONE TOO FAR I NEED A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN! I PUT MY HANDS IN THE AIR YOU'RE MY SAVIOUR! YOU LEAVE I NEED SOMETHING TO SLOW MY HEART RATE DOWN! Are we just wasting away? Are we just wasting the day? Have we just wasted the daylight? You never seem to be so concerned I never seem to get out my words, I'll try again.

Britain's Best Breaks ~ Canterbury & Costal Kent

The beautiful and inviting city of Canterbury has it's own illuminated chapter in Britain's history. Here you'll discover Chaucer and the Canterbury Tales, visit the ancient Cathedral, the centre of the Anglican faith, where 'that troublesome priest' Thomas Becket was murdered. A great base from which to strike out into a most fascinating and picturesque county, Canterbury is but one enticing aspect of Kent. This is the garden of England, a place of castles, vineyards, acres of hops for great English beers, and a coastline studded with invigorating towns and resorts. 21st Century Kent is also the new gateway to Europe, where trains speed through the Eurotunnel and ferries cut their wake across the English Channel to nearby France. Once visited, Canterbury and coastal Kent are never forgotten.
