Rescued Pigeon
On Thursday, September 4rth I came home around 6PM. And when I was talking to Leon, Jenny's mom, we noticed a pigeon walk by us and it was in bad shape. The tail feathers were bent, it was missing feathers in some spot and on its head. It looked injured. There are several feral cats, a Cooper's Hawk and now two Peregrine Falcons in the area. I was worried it was attacked and survived, but was injured. Jenny and I caught it and brought it inside. It survived the night so we figured it didn't have internal injuries. It ate a lot of food too, which was a good sign. On Saturday I brought the Pigeon to The Center For Wildlife in Cape Neddick. (www.yorkcenterforwildlife.org) They took him in an told me that it was a juvenile. They gave the pigeon an ID # so I could check on how the recovery was going. Unfortunately, the pigeon didn't make it. The problems with the feathers were genetic. Asides from some other genetic issues the Pigeon also had pox. But at least he died peacefully and not by being eaten. And because of the pigeon I found this great organization that is willing to rehab Pigeons and Sparrows as well as raptors, mammals etc...

Pigeon Man Magic
Pigeon man performs a dramatic dance to contemporary compositions, until he releases 8 white pigeons from inside of his magical cape. The stage for the dance is in graffiti alleyways downtown Denver. The pigeons live in our art studio, Conari Arts, and are often released throughout Denver, as they return home soon after. The film was shot and editing all in one day. Tom Robinson and I had the idea to release pigeons from his cape a while back as a performance, and the idea turned into this short film.
