In 2010, Incubate (incubate.org) took place from September 12 - 19. One of the main projects of the festival this year, was .Glocal. We made a documentary about the meaning of the different parts of the project. This documentary features - Making-of and sneak preview of the film 'Hilvarenbeek' made by Dan Deacon and Jimmy Joe Roche - Ben Chasny of Six Organs Of Admittance writing a concept album about Mary-chapels - Jeroen Doorenweerd and his "Ghost Performance" The Glocal-program of Incubate 2010 consisted of four different projects. While in residency at the Incubate festival, Dan Deacon and Jimmy Joe Roche collaborated on a new piece of video art. Material was shot at biological farm 't Schop in Hilvarenbeek and in the surroundings of Tilburg. During the festival, the first draft of the movie was shown at the farm before a performance of Dan Deacon. Free folk guitarist Six Organs of Admittance recorded a concept album about the so called 'Mary-chapels', which are little chapels in the landscape of Brabant. Dutch artist Jeroen Doorenweerd presented his new work "Ghost Performance". Creating a virtual space with beamers, visitors can visit places and see a performance of the band HEALTH they would never be able to see in real life. And last but not least Canadian psychedelic rock band Black Mountain performed a unique show in the Nature Theatre in Oisterwijk. The countryside, together with the amphitheater and the surrounding lakes suit the psychedelic music of Black <b>...</b>

From the Incubate website: ix Organs of Admittance is the primary musical project of guitarist Ben Chasny. Chasny's music is largely guitar-based, however it includes eastern influences, marked by drones, chimes, and eclectic percussive elements. The band is associated with numerous current scenes, most notably the New Weird America movement. Acts ranging from folk artist Devendra Banhart to drone metal band Sunn O))) to the highly experimental Current 93 count Chasny among friends and collaborators. Chasny is also a member of the psychedelic band Comets on Fire, and has working relationships with Badgerlore and Current 93.

Artist: Gary Higgins Album: Red Hash Song: I Can't Sleep At Night (Track 5) Year: 1973 Recorded during one forty-hour period in 1973, 'Red Hash' by Gary Higgins is one of the great 'lost' albums of all time. A lovely, sad, wistful folk album, 'Red Hash' was recorded so quickly because Higgins had recently been arrested on drug charges and was facing years in prison. Shortly after the album was self released on his own Nufusmoon label, Higgins seemed to disappear and seemingly gave up a career in music, firstly serving out his prison sentence and later falling into domestic life marrying and having a child, and 'Red Hash' fell into the abyss. It was during the mid-1990s, when 'Red Hash' began to get noticed. Partly due to the development of the internet (word spread about the album online and pirated copies began to appear on ebay) and partly down to musicians, such as Ben Chasny of Six Organs of Admittance, who began to cite the album as a major influence. Chasny even covered one of 'Red Hash's' many standout tracks, "Thicker than a Smokey" on the quite brilliant Six Organs of Admittance album 'School of the Flower' (2005). The story took a further turn for the better when A&R man Zach Cowie received a burned copy of the album from Chasny and was so enchanted with what he heard, decided to set out and find Higgins. The search paid off and the album was remastered and released to critical acclaim by Drag City in 2005. 'Red Hash' is a gem of an album that has aged <b>...</b>

originally released on August Born (Drag City, 2005) A pan-pacific collaboration between Ben Chasny (Six Organs of Admittance) and Japanese artist Hiroyuki Usui (Fushitsusha). Begun as a game that was based on the idea of "fortuitous mistranslation," a concept wherein even if each person couldn't exactly understand what the other wanted to do or go with the music, the music would find its own direction. The songs were sent across the Pacific Ocean five times, gaining texture and direction in the process.
