Some sources erroneously list it as CLANS OF INTRIGUE, which was a spectacular 1977 Shaw Bros. production starring Ti Lung and directed by Chor Yuen (aka Chu Yuan). This much lower-budgeted film was directed by Chang Peng Yi and stars Meng Fei, Chen Sing, Leung Kar Yan, Phillip Ko, Wang Kuan-Hsiung and Doris Chen (Lung Chun Erh). Interestingly, the author of the novel on which Shaw's CLANS OF INTRIGUE was based, Ku Lung, is credited with the screenplay for this film.

The king's senior sheriff, Chin Chiu-ling (Ling Yun) requests aid from Lu Hsiao-feng (Liu Yung) and Hua Man-lou (Yueh Hua) to capture this highwayman. Only Lu promises to help. An embroidered handkerchief, leff by the highwayman, supplies Lu with a clue which leads him to the capital. On the way, Lu meets a cheeky girl, Hsueh Ping (Ching Li), who refuses to help him find the highwayman. Later, when drinking in an inn, Lu intentionally allows the embroidered handkerchief to be stolen by Szu Kung Chi Hsing, hoping in this way to obtain valuable clues to catch the highwayman.
