Directional and strong. www.schwarzkopf-professional.com URBAN Economic and socio-political strife still dominates the world outlook, which may have focused some designers on escape this season. The theme was literal at COMMUUN, where parachute-silk dresses were shown with drawcords, straps, puttees and action-clasp belts. The theme was outdoor adventure -- a trend similarly played out at MARNI, where scuba-diving dominated. Here, handbags playfully echoed the lines of flippers, while diving-suit references came via black colour-blocked tops and leather bathing caps. Shorts are once again a wardrobe staple, but this season they understudy dresses in tight bicycle styles. At ACNE, vintage-style playsuits took the seaside off the beach and onto the high street (or, more likely, into the nightclub), while the body suits at CHLOE and MAX MARA were more usefully shown with trousers and jackets. Utility at ALEXANDER WANG came with construction motifs: builders' overalls deconstructed into gauzy dresses held together with straps; white cargo pants and denim-style jackets with canvas detailing. Cissy has a new friend who has had three mothers. She convinces Cissy that if Uncle Bill gets married, the new wife will ship the children back to Terre Haute. When Bill's new girlfriend tries to get chummy with the kids, Cissy gets scared and tells the twins that they shouldn't get too happy because Uncle Bill might send them away again. This is one of my favourite episodes.
