This week hosts Lisa Johnson Mandell and Sam Osborn discuss the hobbling Hobbit adaptation that looks to finally be heading to the screen and Sam reveals his inner dork as he highlights the casting rumors from Middle- Earth. Joining in via Skype is Author, Bo Caldwell, whose novel 'City of Tranquil Light' draws from the biographies of missionaries in northern China during the turbulent first half of the 20th century. The discussion about her novel opens up a fascinating discussion about the journey of the writing process and how her personal life and crisis effected her fictional work. Jerusalem Nights in the City of David

Every Thursday evenings, the City of David National Park will be offering a different type of experience. As evening sets over the city, a tranquil atmosphere descends upon the ancient site. Artistic lighting highlights the antiquities, and in the King's Garden, between the ancient olive trees, the musical sounds of a harp can be heard over a hot cup of coffee. Our evening experience begin with a night-time overlook of the city at our "Hatzofeh" lookout point from which one can understand the unique location of the Biblical City of David in relationship to Jerusalem's Old City walls. An impressive 3D movie of Jerusalem's glorious history is followed by a night-time guided tour of the City of David site, accompanied by stunning lighting displays that highlight the newest archaeological discoveries from the Biblical Period. The tour continues to the Royal Quarter (Area G) where a new and artistic light show is screened against the backdrop of the antiquities, telling the story of the City of David through sounds and lights.

Sonic the Hedgehog - Part 5 - Sparkling Skyline

A tranquil city within the stars of the night lighting the dark skies as you spin through loops and springs. Star Light Zone is where it's at, and it's my favorite zone of the original Sonic game. A very easy level to be honest, and it's very fast-paced at most parts, especially when you spin down a slope and through the winding course within this city. It also utilizes see-saws that have a spiked ball on one end, enabling you to be launched high in the sky. Badnik Watch Bomb - a badnik that sticks to the ceiling and the floor, and self destructs itself after a few seconds with 4 projectiles being released by the small explosion. Orbinaut (Green) - Another version of Orbinaut, except this one moves on one path like the red versions did, but it doesn't removes it's shield of spike balls, so only way to destroy it is if you are invincible after being hit. Robotnik Balldrop Hits: 8 Robotnik floats out of your reach once again in this boss, but you have the see-saws from earlier to work with, and this boss is real simple: you can either fire the balls he drops back at him before it explodes, or let the ball launch you up into the doc before it explodes. Either way, Robotnik will be running toward his base for the final confrontation after you beat him in this starlit city.

He was asked to run the Phuntsok Ling school in Orissa and achieved the Geshe degree of Lharampa (PhD). Since his retirement, Rinpoche has dedicated most of his time to austere spiritual practice. He is fully devoted to guiding and training young monks and masters on spiritual and ritual performance at Gaden Shartse Monastery. Ven Lama Phuntsho, translator, became a monk in Bhutan in 1987. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Soldiers: WW2 Treatment Documentary - Let There Be Light (1948)

DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org Let There Be Light is a 1946 American documentary film directed by John Huston. The film, commissioned by the United States Army Signal Corps, was the final entry in a John Huston trilogy of films produced at the request of the US Government. This documentary film follows 75 US soldiers who have sustained debilitating emotional trauma and depression. A series of scenes chronicle their entry into a psychiatric hospital, their treatment and eventual recovery. Some of the treatments involved then-new drugs and hypnosis, and the impression was given of miraculous cures, though the narration says that there will be continuing psychiatric care. Much of the filming was done at Edgewood State Hospital, Deer Park, Long Island, New York which between 1944 and 1946 was part of Mason General Hospital, a psychiatric hospital run by the United States War Department named for an Army doctor and general. The film was controversial in its portrayal of shell-shocked soldiers from the war. "Twenty percent of our army casualties", the narrator says, "suffered psychoneurotic symptoms: a sense of impending disaster, hopelessness, fear, and isolation." Apparently due to the potentially demoralizing effects the film might have on recruitment, it was subsequently banned by the Army after its production, although some pirated copies had been made. Military police once confiscated a print Huston was about to show friends at the Museum of Modern Art. The Army ...

Jinnah Mausoleum

Mazar-e-Quaid or the National Mausoleum refers to the tomb of the founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah. It is an iconic symbol of Karachi throughout the world. The mausoleum is situated at the heart of the city, completed in 1960s. It is made of white marble with curved Moorish arches and copper grills rest on an elevated 54 square meters platform. The cool inner sanctum reflects the green of a four-tiered crystal chandelier gifted by the people of China. Around the mausoleum there is a park fitted with strong beamed spot-lights which at night project light on the white mausoleum. The location is usually calm and tranquil which is significant considering that it is in the heart of one of the largest global megalopolises. The glowing tomb can be seen for miles at night. Liaqat Ali Khan, the first Prime Minister of Pakistan, and Jinnah's sister, Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, are also buried besides Jinnah. Official and military ceremonies take place here on special occasions, especially on 23 March, 14 August, 11 September, 25 December, 8 July and 30 July. Dignitaries and officials from foreign countries also visit this place. The Mazar-e-Quaid is now officially recognized as the National Mausloeum of the country.

Camogli (Italy) Travel - Church

Take a tour of Camogli Church in Camogli, Italy - part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. Sitting on the tip of a peninsula in Italy, in a town of the same name, is the tranquil Camogli Church. The church is situated on a rocky shore where boats of the fishing community dock. The light pink and yellow colors that are painted on the church reflect the pastel shades that envelop the entire city. The pebbled beach above which the church sits is often crowded with locals and visitors enjoying the waters of the Italian Riviera. Like the majority of the town's layout, this structure is surrounded by narrow alleyways and residences. The peaking bell tower of Camogli Church makes it visible throughout the town's skyline.
