Batman - The Killing Joke, the comic/video adaptation (test video)

This is what I would like to be a future project of mine if I had the privilege to work with Pgirts and other actors. I truly recommend you all to see Batman Abridged Episode #0 and #1 Batman: The Killing Joke is an influential one-shot superhero graphic novel written by Alan Moore, drawn by Brian Bolland, and published by DC Comics in 1988. It has in its original form continuously been held in print since then. It has also been reprinted as part of the DC Universe: The Stories of Alan Moore-trade paperback The story would affect the mainstream Batman continuity in that it features the shooting and crippling of Barbara Gordon by the Joker, an event which would lead her to adopt the role and identity of Oracle, a vital source of information for Batman and other superheroes. In 2008 DC Comics reprinted the story in a deluxe hardcover edition. This Deluxe Edition features new coloring by Brian Bolland, meant to illustrate his original intentions for the book, with more somber, realistic, and subdued colors than the intensely-colored original.

Star Wars Purge - the adapt. of the comic book to video, Part I

After Order 66, few Jedi dare to venture outside the shadows—rumours of the dark and terrible Darth Vader haunting even their waking moments. Yet, some Jedi find this life of fear unbearable. Now, a small band of Jedi have agreed to meet and discuss what should be done to oppose the Empire and its Sith Lords. However, the Empire is always watching, and Vader himself is eager to confront any Jedi that might bring him closer to the whereabouts of his betrayer, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Prepare for Jedi versus Sith action unlike any seen since the Old Republic in this special one-shot follow-up to Revenge of the Sith! As the title says, this is an adaptation of the famous one-shot star wars comic "Purge" by John Ostrander and Doug Wheatley to video. To do this I worked every square of the comic and add all the necessary sound effects to give the feeling of a real film. Because of the length this is a 2 part video, you can also find the other one also in youtube. Full version on demonoid.com

The War of the Worlds by Orson Welles - the comic/video adaptation, Part I

The War of the Worlds was an episode of the American radio drama anthology series Mercury Theatre on the Air. It was performed as a Halloween episode of the series on October 30, 1938 and aired over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio network. Directed and narrated by Orson Welles, the episode was an adaptation of HG Wells' novel The War of the Worlds. The program, broadcast from the 20th floor at 485 Madison Avenue in New York City, starts with an introduction from the novel, describing the intentions of the aliens and noting that the adaptation was set in 1938, the year of the broadcast. The program continues as a weather report, then as an ordinary dance band remote featuring "Ramon Raquello and His Orchestra" (actually the CBS orchestra under the direction of Bernard Herrmann) that is interrupted by news flashes about strange explosions on Mars. Welles makes his first appearance as "famous astronomer" Professor Richard Pierson, who refutes speculation about life on Mars.

The War of the Worlds by Orson Welles - the comic/video adaptation, Part III

The War of the Worlds was an episode of the American radio drama anthology series Mercury Theatre on the Air. It was performed as a Halloween episode of the series on October 30, 1938 and aired over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio network. Directed and narrated by Orson Welles, the episode was an adaptation of HG Wells' novel The War of the Worlds. The studio returns to establish the Martians as an invading army with the obliteration of the militia force. Emergency response bulletins give way to damage reports and evacuation instructions while millions of refugees clog the roads. Three Martian tripods from the cylinder destroy power stations and uproot bridges and railroads, reinforced by three others from a second cylinder as gas explosions continue. An unnamed Secretary of the Interior advises the nation. (The "secretary" was originally intended to be a portrayal of Franklin D. Roosevelt, then President, but CBS insisted this detail, among others, be changed. The "secretary" did, however, sound like Roosevelt as the result of directions to actor Kenny Delmar by Welles.)

The War of the Worlds by Orson Welles - the comic/video adaptation, Part IV

The War of the Worlds was an episode of the American radio drama anthology series Mercury Theatre on the Air. It was performed as a Halloween episode of the series on October 30, 1938 and aired over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio network. Directed and narrated by Orson Welles, the episode was an adaptation of HG Wells' novel The War of the Worlds. A live connection is established to a field artillery battery. Its gun crew reports damaging one machine and a release of black smoke/poison gas before fading in to the sound of coughing. The lead plane of a wing of bombers broadcasts its approach and remains on the air as their engines are burned by the Heat-Ray and the plane dives on the invaders. Radio operators go active and fall silent, most right after reporting the approach of the black smoke. The planes destroyed one machine, but cylinders are falling all across the country. This section ends famously: a news reporter (played by Ray Collins), broadcasting from atop the CBS building, describes the Martian invasion of New York City — "five great machines" wading across the Hudson River, poison smoke drifting over the city, people running and diving into the East River "like rats", others "falling like flies" — until he, too, succumbs to the poison gas. Finally, a despairing ham radio operator is heard calling, "2X2L calling CQ. Isn't there anyone on the air? Isn't there anyone on the air? Isn't there.... anyone?"

The VG Cats Adaptation With No Name - Episode 1

VG Cats created by Scott Ramsoomair www.vgcats.com Strips Adapted: #86 - Don't Even Ask About Waluigi #93 - Warm Places #111 - Tingle in the Tower #132 - Stranger Than Truth #268 - Karma Lost This one has been a long time coming. Ho yeah. Waaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 2005, there was something called "The VA Jam" - a weekly friendly competition on the voiceacting messageboard I frequent. It was meant to help us hone our skills as actors/mixers/directors etc. One such jam had us adapting several strips from a webcomic of our choosing into audio (or video, if one were so inclined) and that it be no more than 5 minutes long. I choose to do VG Cats, and with a little help of some of my friends (Autumn and Nick Tiner) we did a nice, little clip - one that even made its way to the VG Cats forum community and was quite well-received! And then I promptly forgot about it and went on to other stuff. Couple of years later, I saw that someone had adapted the audio from the VG Cats clip I mixed into a youtube video and I thought "Whoa. That's pretty awesome. I wish I could do that." and then promptly forgot about it and chased after magical rainbows with pots of gold at the end of them. Cut to last month, playing around with Windows Movie Maker (hsssssssssssssss!) I finally figured out "Oh the many snaps! I can do that!" and thus this clip was born! Many, many thanks to Autumn Stroble for agreeing to reprise her role of Aeris after so many years! And of course, a whole lot of thanks to ...

WATCHMEN, page 5 - fan film

I am the creator of this WATCHMEN short. I made this as a final project in a media production class as a senior in high school. I tried to adapt page 5 of the graphic novel, WATCHMEN, into a movie. As you will probably notice, I followed Sin City's production techniques and used some of the score that best fit the mood of the page in my opinion. I did the best I could. Finished it in two weeks time. Let me know what you think. Compare it to the page!

Jason: Friday the 13th Tribute - Man Behind The Mask

Since New Line Cinema's acquisition of the franchise, several Friday the 13th comic books have been published by Topps Comics, Avatar Press, and DC Comics imprint Wildstorm. The first comic book release for the franchise was the 1993 Topps Comics adaptation of Jason Goes to Hell, which was written by Andy Mangels. The three-issue series was a condensed version of the film, with a few added scenes that were not originally part of Jason Goes to Hell. Topps Comics published another series in 1995, with Nancy A. Collins writing a 3 issue, non-canonical miniseries involving a crossover between Jason and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre's Leatherface. The story involves Jason stowing away aboard a train and eventually meeting Leatherface. The two initially become friends, with Leatherface adopting Jason into the formers family. After a series of misunderstandings, Jason and Leatherface turn on each other. Ash, Evil Dead, Freddy Kruger, Leatherface, Friday the 13th, Jason Voorhees, Nightmare on Elm Street. "Twilight: The Graphic Novel Vol.1" Review [HD]

My review of and thoughts on the first of a two-volume adaptation of Stephanie Meyer's famous young adult romance novel, "Twilight". I'm not going to bother to recap the story but suffice to say it's a dark love story. I also give my thoughts on the "Twilight" story as a whole, as well as a few thoughts on the movie adaptation to boot because I never reviewed it on this channel. Is this rendition of the story a worthwhile addition to collectors' shelves? Or does this a comic rehash put too much emphasis on re-telling the story rather than re-inventing it? Watch my review and find out! Opening Song: "What Planet is This?" by Yoko Kanno & The Seatbelts * Note that I do not own this song and am merely using it as entertainment. If asked to remove it, I will. So please...don't sue me. =)

Persona 4 ...as hiimdaisy puts it (adapted quick-like)

One evening, me and my friends were messing around with voices. A certain Persona 4 comic was performed out loud, all impromptu, from the voices to the acting... This one: hiimdaisy.livejournal.com ...I was so amused that I was willing to put together a HIGHLY LOW-BUDGET movie-project-thingy for my two friends who spent the entire evening voicing the entire comic. They pretty much recorded everything already (the 5 comics that're already out in the cut, anyways). As for me, while I'm tempted to just glue their lines together and add staples for good measure, their efforts deserve a bit more than that, so this may take a while. I work on this while I'm unable to do voice acting (health, while I'm away from my mic, university, 3 AM, etcetera...) and to learn how to use Sony Vegas (since I plan to use it for a more ambitious project soon). In other words, I'm very aware that I have other projects I'm producing, but I'm using this project as a technological quality test so the projects I'm going to put the most time into will be good and not experimental~ Artist/Writer: hiimdaisy Adaptation/Producer Person: Hnilmik Voice Folks: SingingDog & COMICAL!! SONIC UNIVERSE Animated Adaptation Act 1 - The Silver Saga

And so ends an epic two week project. For now... Grab a seat and some popcorn (throw in a soda too), and make sure that you're sitting comfortably on that sofa -- you won't want to miss this one, especially if you're an avid SONIC UNIVERSE comics fan! From the audio production (utilising the best of sfxs, bgm and voice-overs), re-mastering of the comic artwork (with added bonus scenes), to the video editing process... And with the help of a talented voice actor and mentor of 'comic dramas', Kovabomb, with his contributions on the voice to the narrator, Mammoth Mogul and an unexpected treat towards the end of the video, and also for giving me advice on how to improve on the audio quality of a radio play, it makes the final product something to proud of making in the first place. Fans of the multi-Sonic universe, I proudly present to you my latest and most improved animated adaptation project ever produced. Until then, see you in the next animated adaptation project that is dedicated to one of the world's most popular comic titles ever. SONIC UNIVERSE Animated Adaptation Act 2 - Scourge: LOCK-DOWN

Apologies in advance! I've experienced some unforeseen technical difficulties, post-premiere deadline, but at least it has been resolved now - lesson learnt for next time! Nevertheless I really appreciate your patience. Here are my thoughts that I'd like to share with you all... This is it. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls of the SONIC UNIVERSE fandom, a month long project in the making, this was something to be treated with a lot of TLC (tender-loving-care) as a Sonic fan. This video (one of the many successful 'animated adaptation initiatives' that I've produced so far) is probably the BEST I've ever done. It was made for the fans, it's made for the creators, it's made for the team who helped me out and it's made for me. I love comics and I love bringing them to life in this manner... It's so much fun and there is so much to learn from it. This video details my ability to animate, my experience in directing an already existing story and presenting it through an innovative media initiative, it demonstrates my passion and ability to voice-act for entertainment, and finally, the ability to incorporate music, sfxs and voice-overs together in a professional manner. Because of this achievement I am extremely proud of myself and I'm at the point of being very keen to making more animated adaptation videos in future to my most beloved comic & graphic novel series. As you can see, I'm here to not muck around, I want to show you guys a new way of appreciating this already ...

The Spirit- Trailer #2

Adapted from the legendary comic strip, THE SPIRIT is a classic action-adventure-romance told by genre-twister FRANK MILLER (creator of 300 and SIN CITY). It is the story of a former rookie cop who returns mysteriously from the dead as the SPIRIT (Gabriel Macht) to fight crime from the shadows of Central City. His arch-enemy, the OCTOPUS (Samuel L. Jackson) has a different mission: he's going to wipe out Spirit's beloved city as he pursues his own version of immortality. The Spirit tracks this cold-hearted killer from Central City's rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront ... all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill our masked crusader. Surrounding him at every turn are ELLEN DOLAN (Sarah Paulson), the whip-smart girl-next-door; SILKEN FLOSS (Scarlett Johansson), a punk secretary and frigid vixen; PLASTER OF PARIS (Paz Vega), a murderous French nightclub dancer; LORELEI (Jaime King), a phantom siren; and MORGENSTERN (Stana Katic), a sexy young cop. Then of course, there's SAND SAREF (Eva Mendes), the jewel thief with dangerous curves. She's the love of his life turned bad. Will he save her or will she kill him? In the vein of BATMAN BEGINS and SIN CITY, THE SPIRIT takes us on a sinister, gut-wrenching ride with a hero who is born, murdered and born again.

Calvin and Hobbes animation

My animation/sketching blog: wallysketches.wordpress.com Made this in my third year of my animation studies, here in Belgium. Based on the characters and story of the comic 'Calvin and Hobbes'. Copyright Bill Watterson. This is just an animationexercice. I don't claim to make the 'perfect Calvin and Hobbes film'. I know the voice isn't very suitable, but i am a Belgian animationstudent. I did what was in my capabilities. These are about 300 drawings handdrawn with pencil and all inked by hand. All scanned one by one and made the sound. thanks for watching peace out

Troy

An animated short based on my comic strip. Back in January, I was approached by a production company about doing a series of animated shorts. This was done as a "tease", they wanted to see how the series might look. This is the very first scene from the first episode of a ten part series. The sound is just a "scratch" or rough track. Yes, all the voices are me. I eventually intended to get "real" actors for the rest of the characters. They really liked what they saw, but I had to say no over money issues. There wasn't enough! My baby don't come cheap. But here it is. I'm currently shopping it around, looking to find a new production company that will do it "right". Hopefully, the rest of the series will get to see the light of day.
