I bought it on eBay from a former Nokia employee who received it as a gift and no longer works for the company. This is a heavily-modified N76 with custom sounds, graphics, and hardware. It is very much a prototype and obviously in a late Alpha or early Beta stage. A little different from our usual fare. Sorry it takes me so long to get to the device itself; would have made a shorter vid if I'd known this was going to be picked up by so many tech/Trek blogs. Hope you enjoy it! In the SIP Communicator project, we have recently implemented support for a similar feature. In addition to mixing audio streams from all participants and then sending it back to them, we also distribute member information and audio level analysis to all members. We even support distributed conferences where mixing resources are provided by several different clients, and yet, all members get to the same view of the call and who's in it. We believe that the various difficulties that we've faced along the way would be interesting to people working in the field of real-time communication and would therefore love to present them. The talk would be technical but would not require substantial technical background. In other words, if you are interested in VoIP then chances are you would like to see it. SIP Communicator is an open source (LGPL) audio/video Internet phone and instant messenger. This is my completed "Hero" build of the John Long Classic Star Trek Communicator Kit. I took the electronics from a Keepsake Hallmark Communicator ornament and installed them into this comm so the activation "chirp" sound would play when opened. As the original screen used communicator "Hero" props created by Hollywood prop maker Wah Chang had, this comm has a 1/10th second stop watch installed to make the moire pattern spin in the center ring. An old piece of smartphone playing YouTube video. It works, but it's not very usable. This is not a good phone for watching YouTube videos. That one plays quite smooth, as you can see on this video, however it lagged once. Other videos can be more laggy and some of them doesn't work, you see a message "Format not supported in (...)" instead. You need also to have both SIM card and the telephone part turned on to work correctly, or else you may see a message "Error when trying to connect". HQ videos doesn't play at all. The video is small, you can't even switch to full screen, that sucks. Interesting thing is, that when using WLAN the web pages loads way slower than with EDGE. However I disadvise you to use EDGE while watching YouTube videos, 'cause they load really slow then. Seriously, if you use your mobile phone to surf the Internet and use streaming media a lot, get a new mobile phone/smartphone. The old ones can be a pain in the ass. This phone has a 150 MHz CPU, 32 MB of RAM, 80 MB of internal memory (extendable with MMC cards up to 2GB), running Symbian Series 80 OS. FYI, this IS NOT my main phone :)
