Nassau, Bahamas - The Bahamas Weekly News Team recently visited with Bahamian bodybuilder Joel Stubbs who is noted to have the 'Best Back in the World" . When we interviewed Joel he was just about to head Joel was off to assist with the Arnold Classic (as in 'Swarchenegger') in California from March 3rd to 6th. Joel is a Bahamas Air pilot who has been bodybuilding for 14 years, and last year competed in the Mr. Olympia competition, a first for The Bahamas! Joel can bench press 550 pounds when he is in his prime condition. He is presently rebuilding after a knee injury and is on the comeback trail to compete again soon. He looks fine to us however. In this streaming video Joel shares his passion for bodybuilding, one that requires much discipline, along with giving highlights of his career and tips on doing your best in bodybuilding. We followed Joel in his workout at BodyZone Fitness Center in Seagrape New Providence, where he works out with his training partner Delroy Dennis, who himself is an up and coming national contender in the sport. As some of you may know, Music Speaks is a project I started to help raise autism awareness through the power of music and bringing people together. Music Speaks 2009 was a concert series that brought in over $8000 to the Autism Speaks organization for the Walk for Autism in November that same year. This year TEAM MUSIC SPEAKS is hoping to exceed that mark. My dad, who died in 1999, directed choirs his whole life after high school. One of those choirs was Sanlahi, and they won many choir competitions and awards. I formed a choir just like his, MoVal Concert Chorale, with 15 of my friends in 2006 and created a family. Until today, MVCC is still together (over 25 members) and singing loud and proud. I direct this choir to bring and keep music into my friends' lives. It's taking 'jamming' to a different level. This year, I want to bring something different to the stage. While having MVCC on that stage won't be too different from benefit concerts I've put together in the past, having you on that stage will be. I am inviting YOU to Music Speaks this year in a competition for charity. The proceeds of the concert as a whole will go to benefit Autism Speaks, while the grand prize is $1000 with half of it going to a charity of the winning group's choice. The best vocal groups, they all sing accapella, rae singing to win the competition and win the grand prize of 100000 us dollars and a Sony BMG contract. A conglomeration of singers, mostly from the first two seasons of "The Sing-Off," this all-female a cappella group is experienced and talented. Amy and Laina of BYU Noteworthy and Candace from Voices of Lee join the group from season one. Dancers were then randomly selected to dance with each other for improvised social dancing and judged individually. For the second round 7 male and female dancers were then selected to again be paired up with a new dancer this time to be judged as a couple. Finally, 5 couples were then selected for the final 3rd round to showcase their freestyle dancing one at a time. Once the competition kicked off with some many amazing salsa stars and living salsa legends on the floor, including the Vasquez brothers, hilarity, amazing dancing, and some fantastic entertainment was guaranteed to ensue!
