Condoleezza Rice

Condoleezza Rice, senior fellow on public policy at the Hoover Institution and a professor of political science at Stanford University, discusses the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, her days as George Bush's national security adviser and secretary of state, and the current state of the world, including Israel, Iran, and China. "The real question is how internally the United States deals with our own difficulties so that we are strong enough and confident enough and optimistic enough to continue to lead."

Activists Confront Condoleezza Rice at Stanford University

Hello, I am the woman in this YouTube, seen protesting Rice from the audience. That day there was a whole group of us together: World Can't Wait, Stanford Says No To War, Code Pink. I am with World Can't Wait. The war criminals want a safe return to legitimacy, only public protest and rejection disrupts that. All of us were demanding to speak the truth about Rice as a war criminal (and the torture program was only one facet of her crimes). It is heartening to read so many comments of support, and if you'd like to talk more, please write me at sf@worldcantwait.org or check out www.worldcantwait.org I also want to comment back about some of the comments: First: Rice should be protested because of her war crimes and crimes against humanity --NOT for being a woman, or African-American. To writers of comments using ugly, racist and/or woman hating names against Rice -- and also to everyone else reading them: I ask you to think: Isn't hatred against Black people and women exactly the type of "thinking" that actually supports, and feeds, the existing power system -- which creates the wars for empire, and imperialist war criminals, that we oppose? Second: World Can't Wait's mission is to build and strengthen mass political resistance and opposition by people living in the US to the crimes of our own government. In politically confronting war criminals, World Can't Wait believes in, and acts on, the power of doing this through speech, only. Speech -- yelled aloud in the streets ...

Condoleezza Rice Leads Polls for GOP VP

BY ALLIE SPILLYARDS ANCHOR MEGAN MURPHY She may have fallen off the radar for a bit, but now Condoleezza Rice is back in the headlines. A recently released national poll shows — voters haven't forgotten about her. CNN explains. "According to the survey ... Rice is on top of the list. Twenty-six percent questioned said they would like to see Rice, who served as national security adviser and later as secretary of state under President George W. Bush, as the Republican vice presidential nominee." Rice has been quick to say thanks, but no thanks. She has denied interest in running alongside Romey several times, but that hasn't stopped the media from speculating — could she really be a contender? MSNBC's Alicia Menendez tells a panel on "Last Word"... "She, I think, as a pro-choice woman, would be very difficult for the base to swallow once they learned about those positions, but she would be very appealing to a general election audience." And a lot of the criticism for Rice as a running mate stems from her time in former President George W. Bush's cabinet. A Houston Chronicle writer says ... "Though Sec. Rice is a brilliant person, allow us to poke a hole in this trial balloon with three words: Iraq.....Afghanistan... Bush......yes, too soon." But a blogger for Gather says that cabinet experience and a solid reputation more than qualifies her for the job — plus she'd claim a couple of important "firsts" at the same time. "[M]aking Condi Rice the GOP VP could potentially break ...

Qaddafi's Condoleeza Rice Photo Album

Bestselling Learn Guitar on Android! bit.ly Among the many bizarre items uncovered as Libyan rebels ransacked Muammar Gaddafi's Tripoli compound: an album filled with photos of former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The discovery was perhaps not surprising given Gaddafi's much-professed admiration of the former US Secretary of State, MSNBC is noting. "I support my darling black African woman," Gaddafi told al-Jazeera television in 2007, according to The Guardian. "I admire and am very proud of the way she leans back and gives orders to the Arab leaders...Leezza, Leezza, Leezza. I love her very much. I admire her and I'm proud of her because she's a black woman of African origin." In 2008, Rice historically became the first US Secretary of State to visit Tripoli since 1953. She and Gaddafi are reported to have enjoyed a private dinner, during which a State Department reportindicates the Libyan leader also showered his visitor with an estimated $212000 worth of gifts -- including a diamond ring in a wooden box, a lute and an accompanying DVD, and a locket with Qaddafi's own picture inside. And, as it now comes out, he apparently assembled — or had a minion assemble — a photo album dedicated exclusively to Ms. Rice. Which just goes to show that even murderous dictators can have high-school crushes. thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com www.huffingtonpost.com photoblog.msnbc.msn.com content.usatoday.com

Dr. Condoleezza Rice visits Google's Mountain View, CA headquarters to discuss her memoir "Extraordinary, Ordinary People: A Memoir of Family." This event took place on October 20, 2010, as a part of the Authors@Google series. As comfortable describing lighthearted family moments as she is recalling the poignancy of her mother's cancer battle and the heady challenge of going toe-to-toe with Soviet leaders, Rice holds nothing back in this remarkably candid telling. This is the story of Condoleezza Rice that has never been told, not that of an ultra-accomplished world leader, but of a little girl -- and a young woman -- trying to find her place in a sometimes hostile world and of two exceptional parents, and an extended family and community, that made all the difference.
