thefilmarchive.org Conflict resolution is a wide range of methods of addressing sources of conflict - whether at the inter-personal level or between states - and of finding means of resolving a given conflict or of continuing it in less destructive forms than, say, armed conflict. Processes of conflict resolution generally include negotiation, mediation, diplomacy and creative peacebuilding. The term "conflict resolution" is sometimes used interchangeably with the terms dispute resolution or alternative dispute resolution. The processes of arbitration, litigation, and formal complaint processes through an ombudsman, are part of dispute resolution, and therefore they are also part of "conflict resolution." The concept of conflict resolution can also encompass the use of non-violent methods such as civil resistance (also often called nonviolent resistance) by a party to a conflict as a means of pursuing its goals, on the grounds that such means are more likely than armed struggle to lead to effective resolution of the conflict. Five basic ways of addressing conflict were identified by Thomas and Kilmann in 1976: Accommodation -- surrender one's own needs and wishes to accommodate the other party. Avoidance -- avoid or postpone conflict by ignoring it, changing the subject, etc. Avoidance can be useful as a temporary measure to buy time or as an expedient means of dealing with very minor, non-recurring conflicts. In more severe cases, conflict avoidance can involve severing ...

This is the prototype in an upcoming series of "edutainment" videos for anesthesia resident teaching. This particular endeavor was part of a system-based group project on professionalism. The concept for this video arose from a discussion about Taoism, and how medical professionals could benefit from applying some of those principles to their everyday work interactions. By controlling our reactions & removing our egos from a potentially hostile interaction, we can facilitate a patient-focused dialogue with our surgical colleagues, one that permits the safest possible anesthetic plan. We started with a group of talented & energetic resident physicians, and a faculty mentor. Our group selected the book, "How to Win Any Argument Without Raising Your Voice, Losing Your Cool, or Coming To Blows," by Robert Mayer, as a model for conveying the critical nature of effective communication between anesthesia providers, surgeons, and nurses in the perioperative setting. A script was developed from our collective personal experiences, using an every day problem that anesthesiologists face: preparing their patients for surgery. Pertinent points from the book were summarized in the form of a rap song, which was filmed as a music video including our entire group, as well as a local rap artist. My son, Nick, assisted with the audio mixing/mastering, and he and Willie (the rapper) helped edit the video. We believe that this video format, combining education and entertainment, could ...

A man, interviewing for a Controller position, answers the common interview question: Tell me about a recent conflict you've encountered and how you've handled it. This is an example of a GOOD way to answer this question. Describe the conflict objectively, and be careful about placing blame and accepting none. Give specific examples of how it was resolved or why it was not. If it was an ethical conflict, it is important that you explain your boundaries. www.mindtv.org There are many ways to resolve conflicts -- surrendering, running away, overpowering your opponent with violence, filing a lawsuit, etc. The movement toward Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), sometimes referred to simply as conflict resolution, grew out of the belief that there are better options than using violence or going to court. Successful conflict resolution occurs by listening to and providing opportunities to meet the needs of all parties, and to adequately address interests so that each party is satisfied with the outcome. In this program, Family & Marriage Therapist, Michele Iaia, further explores conflict resolution. She sheds light on how to handle and resolve the inevitable conflicts that arise in our relationships.

This video is a response to a request on the Bioware forums to see all the different ways to regain loyalty after the conflict between Miranda and Jack, and also Tali and Legion. Some people have trouble resolving these team conflicts. Even though Shepard's Paragon or Renegade score is maxed out, some options may still be unavailable if you have used neutral dialogue or roleplayed choices opposite your Shepard's alignment. This is an easy problem to run into if you imported a character from Mass Effect 1, starting Mass Effect 2 with a bonus Paragon or Renegade score. The game still keeps track of the choices you make, even when your score is maxed out, so keep that in mind if you want every option to be available to you. When I played the Paragon and Renegade in this video, I went out of my way to always take the appropriate option in any dialogue. By doing that, I had the most challenging dialog options available throughout the game. My Renegade Shepard even recruited Morinth. It's not really necessary to restrict yourself and be so absolute if you'd rather roleplay your choices. You can finish the game and survive the suicide mission even if Miranda, Jack, Tali and Legion are not loyal. You'll lose some team members, but hey... they don't call it a suicide mission for nothing. Good luck with your Paragons and Renegades!

Personality development skills : www.letstalk.co.in Conflict management. Conflict management is an essential skill required to survive in the highly competitive environment. Conflicts at workplace or home are inevitable. Conflict occurs when individuals or groups do not obtain what they need. Although seemingly inevitable, conflicts can be minimized or predicted if the early indicators are recognized. Before attempting to resolve a conflict, it is however important to investigate the cause of the conflict. In most situations poor communication is cause of the conflict.

The bonobo may be the most closely related of all species to the human. We share about 98 % of our genetic make-up. We are more closely related to them and chimpanzees than chimpanzees are to gorillas. Behaviorally the bonobo may be more like people than the chimp. However they are among the most recently discovered of species, thus, few people know about them. The effects of captivity and of being around people may influence their behavior. Bonobos are notable because they have very complex behavior and can resolve their conflicts by a variety of means that result in an overall peaceful society. They look like people with neatly parted hair and red lips. The individuals in this video were agitated about something. Bonobos normally are calmer than these; however, the video shows that they were able to get along peaceably. Its DNA is 98% identical to that of humans and some researchers think they should be classified with the human species, ie, Homo paniscus.
