The picture frame was purchased from a local craft store that offers 50% off coupons, so it was quite inexpensive. The idea behind this project is to apply vinyl lettering to the front of the glass and remove everything else behind the glass so that the color of your wall makes the background color of your picture, although you could also insert some decorative paper into the frame to achieve a different look. We made this particular project as a wedding gift and chose fonts and colors that we felt our friends would like. You can use any fonts and colors you would like. The lettering consists of two parts. The background is the family name and we have chosen black Cricut vinyl foe this part. For the foreground lettering we used a beige colored Cricut vinyl. When layering lettering on a sign like this you always want to choose colors that contrast with each other. If your colors are to close to each other they will just turn in to an illegible blob where they overlap. With your vinyl pieces cut, weeded, and transfer tape on you can begin to work on the placement of your elements. A neat trick on this project is to use the picture that came in the frame to determine your placement. To do this, remove the picture from the frame. www.expressionsvinyl.com In this Cricut Vinyl project idea we are going to use a plate we picked up for cheap from a craft store to make a decoration that can be used in your home or given as a gift. This is a pretty simple little project that can be completed in just a few minutes. We have chosen to use violet metallic vinyl for this project. It makes a nice accent for our plate color and the deep sparkle of the metallic colors is just pretty. To begin this project you need a measurement of the flat area of the plate so that your idea can take the correct shape. With this measurement we then set up our phrase to cut on the Cricut machine. With the cutting complete we can now remove or weed out the unwanted vinyl. Apply some transfer tape next and you are ready to move this Cricut Vinyl idea to completion. Remove the backing to expose the vinyl adhesive and then place it on the plate in the desired location. Rub down the entire project with an application tool to make sure the vinyl is stuck down well and free of air bubbles. Remove the transfer tape and your project is finished. The gloss metallic vinyl has a permanent adhesive and is suited to be used outdoors. It will also withstand an occasional trip through the dishwasher if you want to use your plate as a serving dish. However I would recommend hand washing.

Valentines Canvas Vinyl Project www.expressionsvinyl.com In this Cricut vinyl project we are using a few small painters canvases from a local craft store. These little canvases are inexpensive and work great for more than just painting. First we want our canvas to be a different color, so well just use some acrylic paint and paint them black. Always wait for the paint to dry well before trying to apply vinyl. Wet paint and vinyl dont work well together. However these canvases are pretty porous and the paint will dry quickly. With the canvas painted we can set up and cut our vinyl to go on them. This particular project is geared towards Valentines day, but the idea can be adapted to any holiday or even just as a general decoration. We have chosen to use the font Arial for all the lettering on this project. We used Arial, Arial Black, and Arial Narrow. It is a simple clean font that is very recognizable. Design your lettering sizes to correspond to the size of your canvas. Programs like Sure Cuts A Lot allow you to set up a group of lettering within a specific size. This is very handy for a project like this, it takes out a lot of the guess work. We have used words associated with valentines day for this project. Things like love, be mine, xs and os, and what not. The heart image that was used is a doodle bat. This particular one is from DB heart flourish that we got from scrapnfonts.com. Once you have your layout ready to go you can cut the vinyl on your Cricut. Remove the <b>...</b>

www.expressionsvinyl.com When fall begins to set in and the leaves are falling off the trees everyone knows it is time to start thinking about holiday decorations. If you are looking for that extra little something, or need a little gift for a friend or neighbor. Then why not dust off the old Cricut machine and cut up some vinyl. For this Cricut vinyl project we are using three 2x2 blocks. The length of the blocks will be determined by the words you choose to use. You may also need more or less blocks depending on the phrase that you use. In this case we chose the phrase count your blessings. We have painted our blocks using acrylic paint that we watered down for a semi transparent washed look. We also used some sandpaper to scuff the edges for a rustic look. The look of the finished product is up to you. Then we chose some Cricut vinyl colors to compliment there corresponding blocks. If you have a block that is longer than your word you can find fonts available to download for a small charge that allow you to cut a small decorative graphic. In our case we chose to use a couple of these to fill out our blocks. Use your Cricut to cut your words and then weed the unnecessary vinyl from your pieces. After weeding apply the transfer tape to each piece. When you have the transfer tape applied you can then remove the backing and apply your words to the corresponding blocks. Be sure that your paint has had plenty of time to dry. If you try to apply the vinyl to wet paint it will <b>...</b>

Here is my very first project using the Cricut Cake....here's a few things that I have learned about the machine: ...okay........wow i spent all day yesterday and part of today working with this machine...all and all I have to say I am pleased...........BUT...it will take much practice for me at least...here's a few things that I have learned: 1: need to get a better recipe for sugar cookies because the one I used was to buttery and when I went to cut using the machine the edges were to raggedy..(that is why the strawberry looks a little raggedy)....so what I found to work was I added lots of flour to the dough to make it a bit rougher then rolled on the mat and stuck it in the freezer for about 20 minutes and then the cuts CUT LIKE BUTTER...(funny I used that BUTTER word after saying I needed a recipe that was buttery..he he)... 2. the sheet that came in the package from hsn...didn't work for me one bit...yuck...maybe I did something wrong...but the brown was horrible just like the red...but it was probably me... 3. I love the fondant from Michaels..I bought the box of white and then a box of ****orted food colorings to get the green and red colors of the projects below...the brown on the tree was a piece from the ones from hsn...anyHOO, the fondant was perfect to re-color...I think I will go this way most of the time ..... besides the colors that I might buy premade....I haven't tried the gum paste yet... 4. I really need to have more mats...it would have made things <b>...</b>

htttp://www.expressionsvinyl.com Halloween is a great time to do some decorating. This Cricut vinyl project is a great one to do with kids too for a quick afternoon activity. For this project we used some scraps of 2x4 lumber for our blocks. A 2x4 is 1 ½ inches thick which makes them stand up easy and 3 ½ inches tall for the face of your sign. The length of them is not critical just find three blocks that are good sizes for your words. In this case we made them say trick or treat. You can make any saying you want, just get more blocks if it has more words. The first thing you will want to do is paint your blocks. Traditionally Halloween is synonymous with the colors orange and black. We decided to use green and purple for this project. We also chose to water down the paint a little for more of a washed look rather than a full coverage solid paint color look. You can also scuff the edges of your blocks with some sand paper after you paint for a more rustic look. Make sure and let the paint dry well before applying the vinyl to it or you will have trouble with the vinyl sticking. With your blocks ready to go you can then begin to apply your vinyl. For this project we chose black Cricut vinyl. Black is a great color for vinyl lettering because it works with so many other colors. We also chose to accent the word treat with a spider web. The spider web is actually a font. There are many fonts available on the internet that actually make little accent decorations like this <b>...</b>
