Croke Park

Croke Park (Irish: Páirc an Chrócaigh) in Dublin, Ireland is the largest sports stadium in Ireland and the fourth largest stadium in Europe. It is the principal stadium and headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), Ireland's biggest sporting organisation. The stadium is in the heart of the city, a 15 minute walk from the main thoroughfare O'Connell Street[1]. Since 1884 the site has been used primarily by the GAA to host Gaelic games, most notably the annual finals of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship and Senior Hurling Championship. Music concerts by major international acts have also been held in "Croker", as it is often called by Dubliners, and it hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2003 Special Olympics. During the refurbishment of Lansdowne Road the stadium is also hosting the Irish national rugby union and soccer teams. Following a redevelopment programme started in the 1990s, Croke Park has a capacity of 82300,[2] making it the fourth largest stadium in Europe and the current largest stadium in the Six Nations Championship. It has also held the world record for largest attendance at a club rugby union match since 2 May 2009.[3] GAA Hurling Gaelic Football Galway All Ireland Semi Final Kilkenny Cork Tipperary Clare Offaly Wexford Limerick Dublin Kerry Tyrone Down Armagh Derry Waterford Westmeath Louth Carlow Wicklow Longford Laois Kildare Meath Mayo Roscommon Sligo Leitrim Donegal Cavan Fermanagh Antrim Monaghan Scotland Wales ...

U2 CROKE PARK 27-6-87 PROSHOT WHERE THE STREETS (U2mixer)

Everybody knows about the Anthem For The 80s UK TV documentary shown in 1987 - right? Well, the documentary showed 'nearly' complete proshot clips of the band performing at Dublin Croke Park (27-6-87) but the footage was interspersed with interviews - which is always a pain in the ass! So I decided to edit the footage with parts from the same performance to make it seem complete (not easy) and to mix in the soundboard recording from the same date (from the Soundboard Rarities bootleg). So now we have a complete edited proshot performance of Streets from that date - I'll look at editing the other songs from the documentary if they contain enough footage to do so. The version of the documentary I have is at least 2nd gen so the picture quality isn't great but good enough considering the original programme was shown 20 years ago and recorded onto video tape.

Bloody Sunday Croke Park Dublin 1920

Bloody Sunday was a day of violence on 21 November 1920 in Dublin, during the Irish War of Independence (1919 - 1921), which led to the deaths of more than 30 people. The day began with the killing of fourteen of eighteen British agents of the Cairo Gang, or their informants, by the Irish Republican Army. Later that afternoon, British forces opened fire on the crowd at a Gaelic football match in Croke Park in north Dublin, killing 14 civilians, including the captain of the Tipperary football team, Michael Hogan. That same evening there were scattered shootings in the city streets, and three Irish prisoners in Dublin Castle were killed by their British captors under suspicious circumstances.
