crossroads guitar duel (ralph macchio vs steve vai)

a clip from the movie crossroads portraying Ralph Macchio (the karate kid) playing a badass guitar solo. Info from IMDB.com "Though the blues guitar sounds aren't truly coming from Ralph Macchio's fingers, the actor is actually playing note for note the music of Steve Vai and Ry Cooder. His fingering, slides and bends are precise until the "main" solo, which incorporates Paganini's 5th Caprice, in which it is obvious he is not fingering the correct location on the guitar, as well with the patterns, this can be seen since he uses mainly the same pattern (scale on the top frets, then another one in the bottom frets) and all the scale portion of it, the scales are shifting and changing sound, but his patterns remain the same." and "Steve Vai played both sides of the guitar duel, while acting as Jack Butler, the devil's guitarist. Ry Cooder recorded the slide parts and produced the soundtrack."

Original Crossroads - Bone Thugs n Harmony

The better version IMO. Was first originally on the album "E. 1999 Eternal" when it was released, but when Eazy E passed on due to AIDS in March of 1995, the group and their producer, DJ U-Neek, decided to remake the song. The song "Crossroad" was originally dedicated to Bone's deceased friends, but after the death of Eazy-E they remade it as "Tha Crossroads". It was then replaced over the original version on the album, and ended up becoming the hit single/video that it was.

Calvin Russell - Crossroads

wonderful song lyrics: I'm standing at the crossroads There are many roads to take But I stand here so silently For fear of a mistake One road leads to paradise One road leads to pain One road leads to freedom But they all look the same I've traveled many roads And not all of them were good The foolish ones taught more to me Than the wise ones ever could One road leads to sacrifice One road leads to shame One road leads to freedom But they all look the same There were roads I never travelled There were turns I did not take There were mysteries that I left unravelled But leaving you was my only mistake. So I'm standing at the crossroads Imprisoned by this doubt As if by doing nothing I might find my way out One road leads to paradise One road leads to pain One road leads to freedom But they all look the same

Asher Roth and the Racial Crossroads

twitter.com A commentary that was supposed to be about Asher Roth but turned into an extended tangent about race in America. I had a million other things I wanted to say so I'll try and follow up soon, cuz even though I know the Asher story is old I think the underlying issues run deep. I recorded conversations with Dan Charnas and Amanda Diva that were a big part of my thought process for this one but couldn't work them into this vid.. will definitely get some of that footage up later.

Jeff Beck with Tal Wilkenfeld at Crossroads 2007 Live

Jeff Beck is, of course, a guitar god. Tal Wilkenfeld is also in a class entirely by herself, and she's only (I think) 21. I'm speechless. I'll stop typing now. Just watch this. (The drummer is Vinnie Colaiuta, no slouch his own self.) The songs are: "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" by Stevie Wonder (and often played by Jeff Beck) and "Big Block" from "Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop."
Cream - Crossroads (Farewell Concert - Extended Edition) (5 of 11)

Cream - Crossroads live at Royal Albert Hall, London. November 26th, 1968 5 of 11 "Farewell Concert" is the live recording of the Cream's final concert at the Royal Albert Hall on November 26th, 1968. Directed by Tony Palmer, the film incorporates pieces of six performances with narration by BBC announcer Patrick Allen, along with interviews with the band members themselves, showcasing their playing abilities. The film has often been criticized for both its mediocre sound and visual effects. In 2005, a special extended edition of the concert appeared featuring full versions of all songs separated from the narration and interviews. The new version featured digitally remastered sound and video including three bonus songs.

Roots of Blues -- Robert Johnson „Cross Road Blues"

Recorded: Place ?, November 27, 1936 Robert Johnson (g) (vcl) Robert Leroy Johnson (May 8, 1911 -- August 16, 1938) is among the most famous of Delta blues musicians. His landmark recordings from 1936--1937 display a remarkable combination of singing, guitar skills, and songwriting talent that have influenced generations of musicians. Johnson's shadowy, poorly documented life and death at age 27 have given rise to much legend. Considered by some to be the "Grandfather of Rock 'n' Roll", his vocal phrasing, original songs, and guitar style have influenced a broad range of musicians, including Muddy Waters, John Fogerty, Bob Dylan, Johnny Winter, Jimi Hendrix, The Yardbirds, Cream, Led Zeppelin, The Allman Brothers Band, The Rolling Stones, Paul Butterfield, The Band, Neil Young, Warren Zevon, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Robert Palmer, Jack White and Eric Clapton, who called Johnson "the most important blues musician who ever lived". He was also ranked fifth in Rolling Stone's list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. He is an inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Robert Johnson was born in Hazlehurst, Mississippi probably on May 8, 1911, to Julia Major Dodds and Noah Johnson. Julia was married to Charles Dodds, a relatively prosperous landowner and furniture maker to whom she had borne 10 children. Dodds had been forced by a lynch mob to leave Hazlehurst following a dispute with white landowners. Julia herself left Hazlehurst with baby Robert, but after some two years ...
