A US-operated Antarctic cruise ship with 160 people aboard has lost an engine in high seas, but is limping safely to its scheduled port. The Argentine Navy said the Clelia II declared an emergency on Tuesday, reporting it had lost an engine amid heavy seas and 55 miles per hour (90 km per hour) winds. The seas were a little rough between Baltimore and Bermuda. I didn't add music so that you can hear the wind howling. It was very intense, especially when I walked to the top of the Carnival Pride and could barely stand upright because of the wind. Enjoy!

On July 30th 2008 the Pacific Sun was en route to New Zealand in fairly rough seas. You can see the palm trees moving at the beginning. Then the ship is hit by a couple of waves estimated to be 8m high. Don't be fooled that the first mess is the worst, watch this right through.
The following video is showing the swimming pool on our cruise ship. The wind was blowing 36+ mph. The cruise ship was traveling 20+ mph. The relative winds were 56+ mph on the deck!! These conditions continued for more than 48 hours straight!! Dramamine anyone?

Very high winds and rough seas kept Carnival Splendor from docking at Grand Turk on 11/19/08, so the day was spent as a "sea day". Continued bad weather was evident on the Lido deck where the mid-ship pool demonstrated some severe splashing for well over an hour, before the ship's crew eventually decided to drain it. Every inch of the mid-Lido had some salt water from the pool, including work areas behind the bars and into an elevator hallway. Water actually splashed up onto the next deck overlooking the pool. As you can imagine, the same effect was taking place in some passengers' stomachs.

July 28th, 2008 on board the Norwegian Pearl on our northbound trip to Juneau, we went from calm seas to rough seas in less than 5 minutes with 25 foot waves. It was a blast! Hope you're not seasick.

Pardon the bad quality of this video we were in rough seas. My mastermind group were on a cruise and on the way back we encountered this very small boat. Taking on water and padding to get to freedom. When I took this video I was standing with 2 young children and there parents, you can hear the responses that they made about these poor people. The captain stopped the ship for 2 hours to aid these people until the Coast Guard came. We are so very blessed to be an American and live in freedom!
