What's shown is the client version, but this free-to-play title (monetized through microtransactions) will reportedly be available in-browser, via a plug-in, in Crytek's soon to launch GFACE social gaming/entertainment network. This kind of AAA fare should give console shooters a run for their money in 2013! The publisher revealed today that they will be creating a sequel to their military first person shooter, Homefront. Set in the future after a North Korean invasion of the US Homefront had mixed reviews when it launced. . Many praised the game for its storytelling but others found fault with its mechanics. Former developer Kaos Studios was shut down earlier this year so THQ has passed development off to the seasoned vets at Crytek. Known for developing the Cry Engine and for games like Far Cry and Crysis, Crytek has put their stamp on the FPS genre. . THQ is hoping Crytek will deliver the Triple A experience fans were hoping to get with the original Homefront. Crytek's CEO said, "We believe that bringing out level of quality, creativity, and production values to the next Homefront title creates an opportunity for both THQ and Crytek to deliver a truly blockbuster game. It's really important to us that THQ has the faith in giving us a lot of creaitve freedom over one of its most important properties to allow us ot bring hte HOemfront world to life in a new and innovative way." . Crytek's first online shooting game Warface will be launching closed beta in China first on September 15. Today, the Chinese publisher Tencent Games released a CBT trailer and shed some light on the key gameplay features of the CryEngine 3 online shooter. Warface will offer gamers 4 classes: Assault, Sniper, Medic and Engineer and their abilities and play styles are similar to those in other MMOs. The PVE mode includes series of missions that available for co-op and solo. For example, the first mission in the game asks players to help and cover a rescue team that attacked by an Apachi. New missions will be added to the game regularly, according to Tencent Games. Most of the PvP modes such as Sabotage and Free-for-All are just like the other FPS games in terms of rules.
