Let's Play Daikatana 01: Suck it Down

Oh yes. I have actually found a game that has more introduction cut scenes then Valis 3. Now that I've seen this, I think I am actually missing those really long Valis cut scenes.

Daikatana review - JonTron (Part 1)

This is the pilot episode of my new webshow JonTron. It's a show for gamers where I delve into the world of games and find humor in unexpected places. I can hear the "AVGN RIPOFF!"s screamin' from a mile away, but not every episode will be a game review. A website to host these is coming soon. Subscribe if you want more to let me know, more is on the way. Go to my channel for part 2!

Daikatana Gameplay Part 1: Marsh - 1

This is the very first level of Daikatana. I had it already but this has better quality and more secrets, although my aim is a little off. Xbox 360's controller to blame :P Also, the loadscreen between maps 1 and 2 are different because my computer crashed between maps 2 and 3, and that was when I was recording map 2. I don't believe, however, that this is a game issue, since I was editing and uploading other videos while recording those again, and the computer was turned on for like a week lol Also, I've noticed that most comments on the earlier gameplay of marsh was complaints about how we spend 20 minutes killing frogs and mosquitoes. Nigga, please. Even on Doom you spend some time with the god damned pea shooter killing Imps. Frogs and Mosquitoes are hard to see, hard to aim at, and can cause a lot of damage, mainly the frogs, for they can spit poison. Daikatana is not supposed to be your average shooter, it is supposed to be a game for gamers who love FPS and are looking for new challenges. It's not perfect in spite of programming, but it excels in gameplay. Also, nobody seem to have ever noticed the voice acting, which is supreme in my opinion. I love Superfly's tone :)
incite PC Gaming - Daikatana preview

Here's a blast from the past. incite PC gaming went to Ion Storm's offices back in 1999 to visit John Romero and the crew behind Daikatana. This video features both John Romero (game designer) and Stevie Case (map designer) talking about the game. There's also some clips of the game's build at the time. I've never played the game, so I don't know what was changed between this version and the final release. This video was originally found on the CD included with incite PC Gaming issue #2 (January 2000). The file date's October 25, 1999, so this video was probably shot during the summer of 1999.

Matt Chat 55: Daikatana with John Romero

In this exclusive interview, John Romero tells the story of Daikatana, a tale of pain and passion that overshadows the game itself. Contemporary critics slammed it, perhaps more out of indignation over the ill-fated bitch" advertising campaign than the actual gameplay. In this episode, Romero discusses the game's development and the backlash brought on by disgruntled team members.

Daikatana AI sidekick, Superfly Johnson, in action

AI-sidekicks were one of Daikatana's selling points. As it turned out, they were a drag and a constant source of annoyance. In the video (recorded in a fourth episode map Alcatraz of near-future San Francisco) Supergay Johnson and Mikiko Ebihara give us a taste of their brilliant navigation skills and obedience.

Daikatana N64 version differences

Alright I tried for first time the Daikatana for N64 which was developed by Kemco, as well as the gameboy color version which I still have to play one day and which has much worse dialogue etc, I was expecting the worst and my expectations were met....Don't get me wrong, I like the opriginal daikatana for PC and the N64 version has some new touches that were nice but executed badly and I guess they even came from beta versions, but that's not important. This version of Daikatana is very slow (actually the video is even slower because fraps almost died on it) and the controls suck, I had to alter a lot of things in project 64's inputs to get even mouselook to work right, and it still doesn't work perfectly. In this video I am showing two different versions, the first one is probably UK version, it has purple/blue blood at living things and sparks at robots, the second version is the international one and that one has sparks for everything...yeah you hear right. Well as bonus the international version shows hint when dealing with turret, so actually the dumb players who are making the daikatana hate videos who don't know how to deal with turrets easily will be enlightened, sadly they didn't use that version when making the videos, so it is useless. Erm....Yeah that's about it, this is probably the most boring gaming video of me, in the first part you see me using only fist because I ran out of ammo when I was trying to kill all the enemies in previous level, there are flies ...
Let's Play Daikatana GBC 00 - Introduction!

Welcome to Daikatana for the Gameboy Color! The GBC version of the game is actually a pretty decent action-RPG ported by Kemco, which is one of my favorite game development companies. Four weeks left of the semester, and still no time to code. Currently on Thanksgiving break this week and thought I'd sit down and play through, and might as well record it as well. For those of you who normally watch my programming videos and are like "WTF?", Let's Plays are basically videos (generally on YouTube, but started on Something Awful) where someone plays through an entire game, giving their commentary. I happen to rather enjoy watching other peoples' Lets Plays, so I couldn't help but play through one myself. There are a total of 17 videos (0 to 16) that will be posted over the next 17 days You might also check out the PC Daikatana playthrough by Kikoskia, he's a pretty neat guy. :D www.youtube.com Daikatana is a game by IonStorm (with the GBC port by Kemco), the infamous game by John Romero. (This is not one of my games. Yes, I have a lot of my own games on my channel, but this is not one of them. -_-)

Yes. In this game, fireflies and frogs are some of your most feared foes yet. Sure, they're robotic ones, but they shouldn't be THIS hard to deal with. And this is just the first level.

Daikatana: Official Trailer

Daikatana is a first-person shooter computer game developed by Ion Storm and published by Eidos Interactive. Released on April 14, 2000 for Windows, it was led by John Romero. The game is known as one of the major commercial failures of the computer game industry. Daikatana was later ported to the Nintendo 64. A different version of the game was developed for the Game Boy Color, with a version for the PlayStation canceled during development. The game takes place during the year 2455 AD, in a world suffering from a major pandemic caused by a man named Kage Mishima. Through use of a magical sword called the daikatana, Mishima traveled back in time and prevented the disease from being cured, allowing him to take control of the world. The protagonist takes the form of a martial arts instructor named Hiro Miyamoto. Hiro, along with minor characters "Superfly Johnson" and Mikiko Ebihara, attempts to recover the daikatana, traveling to a number of different times and places in the process. Daikatana's title is written in Japanese kanji which means "large sword", but their correct reading is actually "daitō" in Japanese (see Daikatana (sword)). The name comes from an item in a Dungeons & Dragons campaign played by the original members of id Software, which Romero cofounded. Download the Demo! www.4shared.com www.4shared.com
