At just thirteen months old, little Dax was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia. He was given two bone marrow transplants as a part of emergency treatment; one from each of his parents. The doctors then told his parents that Dax would most likely not make it to see Christmas. This song is about the love of a family, and the coming together of an entire community to make sure that this little boy could have one last Christmas. His dad, determined that his son would see Christmas, put up the decorations early. The neighborhood caught on, and did the same. The whole town soon followed suit. A website was built telling his story. Soon, pictures were sent from all over the world of Christmas decorations that had been put up in his honor. Dax did lose his battle with Leukemia, but not before he got to see one last Christmas. Today, this little boy's legacy lives on, and his parents are making sure it does. They were so touched by the care they received from St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, that they now have a desire to raise enough money to run the entire hospital for one day in honor of their son, Dax. Here is a little video that I made in honor of Dax Locke. I heard about this story from Matthew West's new song "One Last Christmas" Dax Ryan Locke was born to Austin and Julie Locke on June 26th, 2007. At the age of 13 months Dax was diagnosed with AML M7 Leukemia. He was life-flighted to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital where he underwent two bone marrow transplants. Both of his parents were able to give their bone marrow to him. Since his disease was so rare Dax's treatments were not certain. Dax lost his battle with cancer at the age of 2. The doctors told us they didn't think he would live till Christmas. Dax passed away on December 30th 2009. During his short life Dax touched many hearts. The town of Washington, Illinois put up their Christmas light early for Dax and many other people around the world joined in.

Dax is a 2 year old boy from Washington, IL who has terminal AML- a rare form of leukemia. His parents, Austin & Julie Locke, have been told that he probably only has anwhere from 4-8 weeks left. A patient of St. Jude, Dax underwent chemo, 2 bone marrow transpants & other procedures. He has a tumor on his spine & the leukemia is everywhere. He did receive radiation on his spine this week for the tumor as a pallative measure- so Dax wouldn't loose control over his arms, legs, bladder for his death. Sadly, there's nothing further medicine can do for Dax. It is very devastating. Everyone wants to know what they can do for Dax. The family has requested that everyone "Decorate for Dax". They want everyone to pull out their Christmas lights a little early this year. Already in his neighborhood, as you will see in the video, neighbors are decorating. The decorations started going up the day after Halloween. Inside Dax's house is a tree & friends put a 22 ft lighted "tree" in the back yard. They have been inudated with presents for Dax- which he opens in the mornings. Dax loves Christmas lights! It is not known if he will be here @ Christmas.
