Discovering the Dead Sea Scrolls is an original exhibition exploring both the context of the scrolls and the science and scholarship associated with their discovery and interpretation.
Over one thousand nude Israelis gathered on the shores of the Dead Sea early Saturday morning to take part in world renowned photographer Spencer Tunick's photo shoot. Tunick's decision to shoot at the Dead Sea coincides with the Seven Natural Wonders of the World Campaign to stop the rapid shrinking of the sea located at the lowest point on earth. Rushing to complete the shoot before the sun rose high in the sky Tunik arranged the models including an all male shoot and one of 150 women covered in kilos of Dead Sea mud. Speaking to reporters after the shoot Tunick said he was just a catalyst for more than 1000 Israeli models. "The safety of democracy is dependent on a society that accepts freedom of expression in art," Tunick said. The photographer has organized some 75 photo shoots of nude crowds at landmarks all over the world, and worked for four years to prepare for Saturday's shoot.

The Dead Sea Scrolls are a collection of 972 texts from the Hebrew Bible and extra-biblical documents found between 1947 and 1956 at Khirbet Qumran on the northwest shore of the Dead Sea from which it derives its name, in the British Mandate for Palestine, in what is now named the West Bank. Ancient Voices: Traders of the Dead Sea Scrolls This documentary is a BBC production featuring the work that Princeton Seminary professor James H. Charlesworth has done to recover the lost Dead Sea scrolls, one of history's most controversial discoveries. In 1947, a young Bedouin shepherd, exploring a cave, stumbled upon cryptic writings that had been hidden from view for nearly 2000 years, and which hold a valuable key to the Jewish and Christian traditions.
