Detroit Lions draft defensive tackle Nick Fairley with No. 13 pick.

This was all about winning time. Winning time in the fourth quarter and winning time in December and January. The Detroit Lions ignored several other areas of concern on Thursday and bolstered their greatest strength when they selected Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley. After his dominating performance in college football's national championship game, many draft experts believed Fairley might be a top three pick. But he played only two years at Auburn, and he was only an impact player during his final season. "I really didn't know where I was going to go going into the draft, but Detroit picked me and I'm pretty excited," Fairley said on a conference call after he was selected. "There were other guys (on the draft board), but in sort of our dream scenario, it was Nick Fairley falling to us," Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said. With the Minnesota Vikings picking one spot ahead of Detroit at No. 12, the Lions were preparing plans to trade down from No. 13. "There was discussion about us moving back -- or trying to move back -- and it was because we were very concerned the Vikings might take him," Mayhew said. "I'm just glad he slipped to us." At 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, Fairley has great explosion off the ball and had 11½ sacks and 24 tackles for loss last year. What makes this pick interesting is that the Lions took Ndamukong Suh at the very same position last year, and Suh was the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year. The Lions also traded last year for defensive ...

Why the Rams Need a Defensive Tackle (Suh or McCoy)

I made this video containing highlights(lowlights) of the St. Louis Rams' 2009 Season and the collective front 7's inability to contain the running game as well as provide and interior pass rush vital to stopping passing plays in today's NFL. I felt it was necessary to make this video due to the growing belief that the Rams "HAVE TO" take a QB with the #1 pick because we apparently forgot that something has to be done about these breakdowns. Whenever the video freezes or goes in slow motion, it is to illustrate when the breakdown happens or how much space the Quarterbacks in this video have to step up and throw. Sadly, I had way too much material to make this video. All video/clips/audio are property of the NFL and/or the St. Louis Rams. This video was not meant for promotional purposes or profit. I am simply a fan that cares about his team.

Ndamukong Suh ejected for stomping on opponent, likely to be suspended

www.nma.tv Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh will likely be suspended for at least two games after he stomped on Green Bay Packers' offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith in Detroit's annual Thanksgiving Day game and was ejected. A first-round draft pick out of Nebraska last year, Suh has already established himself as the "dirtiest player" in the league, according to a poll of fellow players conducted by the Sporting News. The former Husker has nine personal fouls in his first two years, a league record, and has been fined a total of $42500. If Suh is suspended, he would lose $82000 per game in lost salary.
