Dell has surprised here at IDF 2010 by previewing their upcoming Inspiron DUO tablet/netbook hybrid device, with a rotating touchscreen display. Details on the tablet are in short supply, but Dell did reveal that it runs Windows 7 Premium. Normally the display is on the outside of the netbook lid, allowing it to be used as a slate, but when the lid is opened the screen rotates inward so as to be visible as a regular notebook.
"Dell Inc. (NASDAQ:DELL) unveiled its Inspiron Duo convertible tablet on Tuesday - a netbook-tablet hybrid. The device is equipped with a full keyboard and dock, as well as a flip-hinge, which unlocks the netbook into a fully-functioning tablet. Dell spokesman Sam Burd said, ""Dell is changing the shape of computing, with products that usher in new experiences and allow people to stay connected to each other and the content they love from almost anywhere, The new Inspiron duo's dual purpose delivers one-touch access to great content and yet offers the functionality of a full keyboard for more intensive applications. The netbook-tablet costs $549, or $649 with an optional dock attachment, and pre-order customers in the US will receive the device in mid-December. I decided to replace the standard HDD that comes installed on the new Dell Inspiron Duo with a SSD drive - Performance and responsiveness are definitely noticeable with the SSD drive. Apologies for no commentary as I do NOT want this to be a tutorial as I dont want anyone to mess up a cool new toy like the Duo. Also I know that I failed to show any before video - but hey I am an amateur youtuber! Anyway this will at least let you see it can be done, as well as you get a glimpse of the inside of the Duo and how easy it is to open.

The touch screen function is innovative and responsive but requires slender and nimble fingers using military precision to successfully operate. It is Windows 7 that slows the Inspiron.
