How many remember the good old days of 'clubbing' when the last hour or so was dedicated to 'smoochies'? If you were asked for a dance then, you knew there was either love in the air (or your luck was in..lol).. heheh.. I remember weird and wonderful drink mixes, 'La Chic' club in Nottingham, England (yes, the FIRST Canal Street) - and trying to discover who I was, in a hostile climate. Being hounded by unenlightened 'hetties' was not fun! 'Furry cub' Tony was in the distant future then, but we had a hell of a good time! We all cared for each other a little more, in those days. Now, so many take for granted the sacrifices of others, like Quentin Crisp. Beware! Laws can be reversed, you know! Barry White's quality music combines with loads of nostalgia here, and I reckon this one will stir more than a few memories for its viewers. Hey - this is one of my favourite pieces of music.. Dedicated to dad - at peace 27th November 2008.. Also to my friend Frank - he stood by me in 2006 when I had the double trauma of cancer and a violent partner. The latter dealt drugs from our home. Frank kept my friends and family informed when I was ill at that time. Just heard that Frank has suffered a massive stroke and recognises no-one.. I owe him for what he did.. From Cliff's 'Private Collection' album - On many juke boxes in the 80s, this track didn't appear because there was a 'cut-off' point which meant that some of the last tracks were excluded. For all fans of Gary and 'Take That' - this was the TT master in his solo phase. It's amazing to see the four lads back together, but good to 'hark back' to the time when the talented Mr Barlow went solo, following the split. He weathered the 'tabloid press storm' well. He and Robbie both have dignity, and it's good to see 'the hatchet buried'.. metophorically-speaking, of course! Dedicated to my dear sister, Caroline (in Miami) who has always been there for me, through good times and bad - including the death of our father, Allan, in November 2008. To me, Gary is special in many ways - talented, good-looking, down-to-earth, and - above all - a caring man. I have read 'My Take' (Gary's autobiography) and recommend it to others, especially those who feel down. Here is a man who has bounced back from all sorts of troubles - and in style!
