Blue Cheer Dickie Peterson receives his Custom Bass Guitar 2007
Blue Cheer's Dickie Peterson with his new custom bass guitar back in 2007. The guitar was built by guitar tech / luthier Bill Baker of NJ. Dickie was a great friend of mine (I will miss him so...he passed away October of 2009), and during 2006 - 2007 we put our heads together on the design of what he would want in a bass, and I put it together for him. He invited me out to his house in Sept. '07 and I presented it to him as a gift. Got to jam, got to meet some of his friends, and just hang out in sunny California, and it was a blast! This is edited video from that trip. We even staged a little photo session with his basses and his Cadillac, that he lovingly called "The Kitty". We went to a concert to see Sammy Hagar, as Dickie was hoping to meet Michael Anthony, but he wasn't playing with Sammy that show, so it didn't happen and Dickie was bummed. Michael has praised Dickie many times, even on the RnR Hall Of Fame awards show. With his passing, I'm proud to share this video with you all. I was truly a lucky guy to get to know this good, honest person and call him a friend. I was creating a new bass from these parts in early 2009 as the first one was brighter than his main one (he mentions that I built his basses on the live Blue Cheer dvd release in the audio commentary) and he died before it was finished. He did see it in pictures via e-mails I sent him as I was working on it, but after he died I have since completed it. New body, new pickup configuration and an added <b>...</b>

September 12, 1946 - October 12, 2009 Dickie Peterson, bassist and vocalist of Blue Cheer (one of the most legendary and influential power trios), has passed away at the age of 63, October 12, 2009. Blue Cheer is best known for their hit cover of Eddie Cochran's Summertime Blues. They were the first to lay the foundations essential to all heavy metal genres. Today their influence is best heard in the Stoner/Doom Metal subgenre. But nevertheless Dickie Peterson and Blue Cheer's influence is broad and everlasting. Upon taking one of Dick's classes, however, Tommy decides that Dick is a lousy teacher and that he would rather look elsewhere. Outraged, Dick orders Tommy to go to Pendelton.
