Her father Ching Fong Yip, worked at the R & G Lounge in Chinatown and her mother Janny Yip, owned a beauty salon. Growing up, Warren Yip, her older brother and Bev, were inseparable. As children of new immigrants, their parents focused on working long hours to support Bev and Warren through private schools. Bev is a graduate of San Francisco State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Communications and a minor in Accounting. In 1989 her parents enrolled the Yip siblings in Cameron House's Bilingual Afterschool program (BAP). One thing Bev never forgot was the day she experienced the Loma Preita Earthquake (her very first one) in Cameron House's Log Cabin! It wasn't until 1993, where Bev was first introduced to the other Cameron House (CH) activities through her good friend, Kimberlee Yee. Bev and Kim enrolled in "Day Camp" together and went on to become Ventures' Leaders for four consecutive summers. During those years, Bev also joined the Friday Night Club program and graduated with the EPIC Commission. Immediately after high school graduation, Bev became a Friday Night Club Leader, participated in several Cameron House mission trips and became more active with fundraising events. Edwin Yan - Donaldina Cameron Award 2012


Edwin first came to Cameron House when he was in the sixth grade. He joined Cameron House's summer programs, and participated in the Friday Night Club program. As a high school student, he volunteered three summers as a Solid Ground leader, and later served on summer staff as one of the Site Supervisors. In the summer of 2010, Edwin participated in the Cameron House and Presbyterian Church in Chinatown's joint mission trip to New Orleans. The following summer, Edwin joined the Cameron House/PCC ACBA basketball team, and went on his Senior Commission's (SHINE) Mission Trip to Ghost Ranch Conference Center (New Mexico), an agency of the Presbyterian Church (USA). That summer, he was also part of the Leadership Support Team (LST) for the annual Westminster Woods Youth Camp, and was instrumental in helping to establish and lead one of the four PCC/CH basketball teams that entered the Chinese Christian Union (CCU) basketball league. In addition to Cameron House service and programs, Edwin's life has been filled with other activities. For over ten years, he took piano and martial arts lessons, and more recently took up the ukulele. In May 2011 -- having done well in his academics in addition to playing three years on the basketball team - Edwin graduated from Lowell High School. Gilbert and Eunice Bejar-Lee - Donaldina Cameron Honoree 2012


cameronhouse.org http Gilbert was born in 1952 in Fresno, California and later moved with his family to San Francisco in 1955. Gilbert grew up in the Richmond District where he and Eunice still reside. He is the third of four children (brother Francis and sisters Linda and Carole). His family was introduced to Cameron House in elementary school, and continued through the program in the 1960's. Gilbert was a member of the Imperials and Barracudas clubs. He served as a volunteer leader for the club and day camp programs, first aid teacher, and Sanitation Chair for Carnival numerous times. Gilbert has worked as a butcher in his father's meat market, a Licensed Vocational Nurse, and a Registered Nurse working as a hematology oncology nurse at Mt. Zion/ UCSF Hospital since 1982. Gilbert's consciousness to underdevelopment was raised by both Cameron House involvement and also while volunteering in Nicaragua and in a church delegation to refugee camps in Honduras. Born in Manila, Philippines in 1959 to a United Church of Christ Philippines (UCCP) minister father and a teacher/principal mother, Eunice is the eldest of three (brother Eduardo and sister Estela). Eunice received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lyceum College of Nursing, worked as the company nurse for a wine and spirit company for five years, then as an army nurse in the United Arab Emirates Military Hospital for four years. Cameron House Carnival 2010: The Race


A short video/advertisement showing different games of Cameron House carnival, in only the way possible: A contest to win all the prizes in Carnival. Cameron Carnival is an annual event at Cameron House, where people all over come to have fun, have good eats, bet on the silent auction, and help fund raise and donate to help fund the Cameron House summer camp programs. Planting The Seeds Of Change (New Orleans Mission Trip)


In 2008, a decision to have a joint effort with Donaldina Cameron House and The Presbyterian Church In Chinatown San Francisco to have a joined mission trip to New Orleans was finalized. Due to the success from this trip, a second trip was in the makings. On July 12th, 2009... 16 members from Cameron House & PCC had the chance to go see New Orleans once again as a joint ministry. Follow the weeks worth of work with four members and listen to the experiences that they've brought home with them.
