Shaun White left X with gold medals in both slopestyle and superpipe, throwing back-to-back double cork 1080s in a run that was too much for anyone to top at 98 in superpipe -- Louie Vito, 94, and Iouri Podladtchikov, 88, rounded out the top three. In the ladies event, Kelly Clark came back for a repeat win in superpipe, while Jamie Anderson bested the rest in slopestyle. On the freeski front, men's slopestyle came down to three points separating the podium spots with Bobby Brown coming out on top, while superwoman Kaya Turski walked away with a double three-peat, first in Aspen then in Tignes. am grand prix in park city überraschte shaun white die snowboard welt mit einem noch nie dagewesenen trick, dem double mctwist 12. nach eigenen angaben beschäftigte er sich über zwei jahre mit dem trick bis er ihn schliesslich beherrschte. unter anderem wegen diesem trick und seiner enormen höhe galt shaun white als »the one to beat» an den olympischen spielen. nun, gerade mal knappe zwei wochen nach den spielen, zieht iouri podladtchikov trickmässig mit shaun white gleich. während eines trainings mit dem bigair bag in der davoser pipe versuchte er sich erstmals am double mctwist 12. nach einigen versuchen in den bag, fühlte er sich bereits sicher genug den trick in die pipe zu stellen. nachdem er beim ersten versuch noch leicht wegrutschte, stickte er den trick beim zweiten (!) anlauf bereits. neben den drei double corks die iouri bereits kann, ist dies nun der vierte next-level trick in seinem repertoire. nun heisst es also warm anziehen für shaun white. die nächste gelegenheit sich mit white zu messen erhält iouri an den us-open, da shaun nicht an den europe x-games von nächster woche in tignes teilnimmt.

His Olympic podium mate, Scotty Lago, had just thrown a massive run that began with a cab double cork 1080 and set the height bar higher than anyone else in the field. White, the last rider to go due to his first-place qualifying position, landed near the flat bottom following his third-to-last hit and struggled through the final two hits of his run with diminished speed.
