Living a Bald Life

This is a news story about my choice to live my life without covering up my bald head. Women with hair loss can be as comfortable and cool as men - all they have to do is try it! The two folk dances shown briefly on the video are: "Trei Pazeste Batrinesc" (Romanian), and "Rumelaj" (Rom).

King Penguin Harassed by Fur Seal Pups on S. Georgia

A lone King penguin, just out of the water with a very full belly, has to cross through a large Fur Seal colony to get to the King nesting area. This was shot at about 8:00 pm at Right Whale Bay, South Georgia Island, on January 6, 2010. Our ship, Polar Star, is visible in the background. Cheesemans' Ecology Safaris was the expedition - wonderful! Go to www.stevegouldphotography.com to see beautiful photos from Antarctica, South Georgia and The Falklands. Go to: www.blurb.com to view or purchase a book of these photos by Steve Gould.

Cuttlefish Laying Eggs

While diving with Wakatobi Resort in Indonesia, I saw a pair of large cuttlefish laying eggs in the coral. The female (shown in the video) was larger - over a foot long. Notice her color changes. The smaller male was standing watch nearby. The short scene at the end shows a cuttlefish inside the egg, about to hatch. This was taken in a different location, Lembeh Straits, Indonesia.

Grouper Buddy

While diving in Little Cayman in February 2009, we had an amazing encounter. This Nassau Grouper approached us at the beginning of the dive, and stayed with us until we went back to the boat. We didn't feed it. The photographer shown in the video is Steve Gould, and you can see his photos at: www.stevegouldphotography.com. The two photos at the end of the video show me with my video camera. I shot this with a Sony DCR-TRV 310 in an Amphibico Dive Buddy housing. It was a wonderful experience - I never imagined that there could be this sense of interaction with a fish.

The band's website is: www.themso.com Don't let hair loss stop you from enjoying life! Made for Each Other

Shrimpgoby housemates in Lembeh Strait, Indonesia: perfect symbiosis - the goby fish is the "watchdog", and the shrimp excavates and maintains the home. More info: The fish is perched on its pectoral fins by the edge of the hole. It keeps its tail low near the opening so that one of the shrimps can keep an antenna in contact with the tail. The fish is the lookout...it watches for the approach of danger. The shrimp constantly excavates the hole that they all live in. The shrimp can't see approaching danger, but it has the fish to do that. The fish needs a place to hide, and the shrimp provide that. At the slightest sign of danger, the fish will dive tail-first into the hole, like a shot. I included the beginning part even though it's darker because you can see the entire fish perched there. A bit later, you can see one of the shrimp touching an antenna to the fish.
