Duccio di Buoninsegna: 'Christ and the Samaritan Woman'
This small panel was part of the predella of the Maestà, a commission executed by Duccio for the Duomo in Siena. The monumental double-sided altarpiece was dismantled around 1771, and while most of the panels are now in the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo (Siena), some were acquired by private collections and museums. In the one here, Christ—seated on Jacob's well—is approached by the Samaritan woman, with a pitcher on her head, and engaged in a conversation conveyed through gestures. To the right, they are watched by a group of disciples placed in the architectural setting of the Samaritan town of Sychar, in an attempt to create spatial depth in the painting. The panel is early proof of the development of fourteenth-century art towards a more naturalistic approach, featuring a greater use of narrative discourse and a growing concern for the treatment of space.

DUCCIO GABBRIELLI in arte DUCCIO nasce a Firenze il 6/5/75 Inizia come tanti altri artisti emergenti in gruppi rock e serate di piano bar, unplugged e vocal live music in tutta la Toscana, intervallate da esperienze televisive e radiofoniche regionali e nazionali, concorsi nazionali (Accademia della Canzone di Sanremo e Festival di San Marino-Tim Tour ) e regionali. Gusti musicali: un po' di tutto con particolare attenzione al metal anni '80 e al rock progressivo. Settori operativi: composizione, testi, arrangiamento. Nel Gennaio del 2009 nasce il progetto LACRIME DI COCCODRILLO insieme a Giulio Iozzi, autore-compositore e arrangiatore del brano, il quale decide insieme allartista (amici da molto tempo) di sperimentare un brano che parla della omosessualita narrata pero in maniera ironica. La canzone parla di un uomo che cerca disperatamente una donna e di un amico che narrando la storia di un coccodrillo cerca di far capire che invece e proprio lamico stesso la persona giusta per il protagonista.
