AMS Performance brought the Antigua/Barbuda Alpha 12 GT-R to the October 2011 Texas Mile in an effort to set a new world record for the fastest R35 GT-R. A lack of good weather and open tracks around Chicago made the TX2K11 Nationals a great opportunity for us to bring Tim Sanders' Alpha 12 for some preliminary quarter mile track testing. During one of the test and tune sessions, Sander's gray Alpha 12 was able to fire off a 9.1@159.97 run. The car is not nearly dialed in to its full potential as of yet but still produced a V-Box verified 60-130 time of 3.58 seconds during that same run. Considering this was its first time to the track, the outcome was still very much a success. We will have more updates on the Alpha 12 as the weather gets warmer and the tracks open up here in the Chicago area.

This past weekend, AMS brought out the gray Alpha 12, owned by Tim Sanders' to the TX2K11 Nationals to run in the dyno competition and quarter mile at Lonestar Motorsports Park - the backyard of Hennessey Performance. All awd vehicles ran on their Dyno Dynamics dynamometer. The Alpha 12 produced a final AWHP number of 1069, taking first place without having full traction on the rollers! The excessive wheel spin certainly effected the readings and left a nice coating of tire residue on the dyno platform. Our record 9.1 quarter mile video will be up within the next few days so be sure to check back soon!

History has been made! On Tuesday July 26th our AMS ALPHA 12 GT-R went back to the track with a little more favorable weather conditions. The result was the World's First 8 Second R35 GT-R! Even with a 1.668 60 foot time, the ALPHA 12 driven by our own Special Projects Technician, Ivan Phipps, went 8.975@169.49 mph! 60 foot 1.668 330ft 4.166 1/8th mile 6.042 1/8 mph 132.74 1000ft 7.634 1/4 8.975 1/4 mph 169.49 In addition the 60-130 time record was broken again with a 3.34 second blast from 60-130mph!! This makes the AMS Alpha 12 GT-R the fastest recorded street car to date from 60-130 mph!!! Not bad for a true street car with air conditioning and all the other amenities of a GTR. So, with that said, we used the stock oem run-flat tires, oem wheels, 100% oem body panels (no carbon replacements), 90% full interior minus the oem seats ( race seat and roll cage (157 lbs) that more then exceeds the weight of the two front oem seats). The trunk liner was also taken out, but that was more a safety precaution since our surge tank is located in the there.
