"Kurz und schmerzlos" means as much as "quickly and smoothly" and is a German underground drama by young Turkish film maker Fatih Akin. Shot in the suburbs and industrial area of Hamburg, Akin's home town, it was a big hit in German repertory cinemas in 1999. The film shows the life and fate of three young foreigners - Turk Gabriel, Greek Costa and Serb Bobby, all of them dreaming of love and money in the bleak surroundings of social welfare, crimes, industry, unemployment and cultural minorities. Of course it won't take long until the friendship of the three outsiders is about to break apart when Gabriel becomes a henchman for a local gangster boss, and a journey through violence and despair begins for all three of them... There are no special effects, no visual games, there is just pure "adrenaline acting" - except for Ralf Herforth ("Knocking on Heaven's Door") as gangster boss Muhamer, all actors are unknown newcomers, but with a great impact and brilliant performances. There is much realistic violence in it than can be felt in every second, and you really need to watch out for some contemporary American or Japanese underground stuff to find something similar. Been catching up with filmmaking from 2007 and had a chance to watch The Edge of Heaven (2007), Fatih Akin's much-touted followup to his 2004 award-winning film, Head-On (Gegen Die Wand). Needless to say, I was BEYOND moved. A 6-character interweaving story which takes place over two countries with famous actors of their respective nations, Turkey and Germany. If you haven't seen it, you haven't really enjoyed the magic which is Fatih Akin...prepare to be deeply moved, films which you're going to watch several times over. POLVOROSA Band members 2000 - 2005 DANIEL PUENTE ENCINA - Composer, author, voc & git TINA TRILLIAN BARTEL - Keyboards, Vocals NORMAN JANKOWSKI - Drums / Percussion DANIEL PUENTE ENCINA - Composer, author, voc & git Born in Santiago de Chile, the composer, guitarrist, songwriter and singer Daniel Puente Encina formed the band the Pinochet Boys in the eighties, who were later ordered to leave the country by the ruling military regime. On a search for new impressions he travelled alone to Brazil, Argentina, Madrid, London, Amsterdam, Berlin and Hamburg. In the nineties he set up a new band: Ninos Con Bombas. They toured through the USA and Europe. In Germany they are known amongst others as the successful support band to Einstuerzenden Neubauten. Ninos Con Bombas has been awarded the John Lennon Talent Award (JLTA) in 1995. Later on Daniel, Norman and Trillian carried on together and formed Polvorosa. Some of their songs can be heard in Fatih Akin's multi award winning film Head-On (original title: Gegen die Wand). In 2005 their first album Radical Car Dance was released. The director Marten Persiel, Berlin, created two amazing videos for the songs; "Behind da mi House" (MTV Award 2005 - best video) and "El Amor Se Demora" which was especially composed for Fatih Akin's movie "Im Juli" (2000).
