LE CONCERT un film de/een film van Radu Mihaileanu A lépoque de Brejnev, Andreï Filipov était le plus grand chef dorchestre dUnion soviétique et dirigeait le célèbre Bolchoï. Après avoir refusé de se séparer de ses musiciens juifs, il a été licencié en pleine gloire. Trente ans plus tard, il travaille toujours au Bolchoï mais comme homme de ménage. Un soir, Andreï tombe sur une invitation du Théâtre du Châtelet conviant le Bolchoï à venir jouer à Paris Une idée folle lui traverse lesprit : réunir ses anciens musiciens et les emmener à Paris, en les faisant passer pour le Bolchoï. Loccasion tant attendue de prendre enfin leur revanche Ten tijde van Brejnev, was Andreï Filipov aan het hoofd van het wereld-beroemde Bolchoï Orkest en de meest befaamde dirigent van Rusland. Nadat hij geweigerd had om zijn vriend Sacha en de andere joodse muzikanten uit het orkest te zetten, werd hij op het toppunt van zijn carrière ontslagen. Dertig jaar later werkt hij nog steeds voor het Bolchoï Orkest maar wel in de kuisploeg... Op een avond, ziet hij toevallig een fax waarin de Théâtre du Châtelet het orkest officieel uitnodigt voor een concert in Parijs. Andreï krijgt een waanzinnige inval. Waarom zou hij zich samen met zijn vroegere collega-muzikanten, die zoals hij leven van klusjes, niet voordoen als het Bolchoï Orkest en met hen naar Parijs gaan? Mickey Mouse & Friends - The Band Concert (1935)
The orchestra is performing the William Tell overture, but then Donald Duck (in his third appearance in a Mickey cartoon) appears selling ice-cream. Uninvited, Donald takes out his flute and distracts the band into playing Turkey in the Straw. The cartoon is notable for being the first Mickey Mouse film in Technicolor, although two more Mickey cartoons were made in black and white before they were produced in colors on a permanent basis; Mickey's Service Station and Mickey's Kangaroo. It is said that when conductor Arturo Toscanini first saw the cartoon in a movie theater, he was so delighted with it that he ran up to the projection booth and asked the projectionist to run it again. In 1994 it was voted #3 of the 50 Greatest Cartoons of all time by members of the animation field. Also, according to Leonard Maltin in a commentary for this film when it was included in one of the Walt Disney Treasures, The Band Concert was remade (somewhat) years later as Symphony Hour.

Courante Performed by John Dornenburg *Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe was a French composer and gambist. It is speculated by various scholars that Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe was of Lyonnaise or Burgundian petty nobility; and also the selfsame 'Jean de Sainte-Colombe' noted as the father of 'Monsieur de Saint Colombe le fils'. This assumption was erroneous as proved by subsequent research taken on by Jonathan Dunford in Paris [1] In fact he was probably from the Pau area in southernmost France and Protestant; his first name was "Jean". His two daughters were named Brigide and Françoise. Sainte-Colombe was vastly celebrated as a veritable master of the viola da gamba, for he did not merely master the instrument, but also improved upon it: he is acclaimed as having added the seventh string (AA) on the bass viol. In accordance with the celebrated aloofness of Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe, he is claimed to have performed only occasional concerts and exclusively at his home, in consort with his two daughters, whom he had trained. Aside from them, Sainte-Colombe's students included the Sieur de Danoville, Desfontaines, Méliton, Jean Rousseau, and, most notably, Marin Marais, who wrote, Tombeau pour Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe in 1701 as homage to his instructor. Dans les années 70, le Maroc a connu, grâce à cinq musiciens formés à l'école de la rue et décidés à rompre avec les langueurs orientales envahissantes, une explosion musicale qui devait être pour les jeunes le cri de leurs désirs, de leurs frustrations et de leur révolte. Dans "Transe", Ahmed El Maânouni trace l'itinéraire géographique et culturel de ce groupe : Nass El Ghiwane, privé en 1974 d'un de ses membres marquants, Boujemâ, mort à l'âge de 28 ans. A travers leurs chansons, le film aborde les thèmes sociaux traditionnels (le thé ou l'échange, le feu ou la souffrance, l'eau ou la sécheresse des cœurs), mais aussi les grandes questions contemporaines (le temps, l'histoire, le rire, l'espoir...). Please read them if you want to know some Beatles history. "Get Back" "Don't Let Me Down" Thursday - 30 January 1969 Apple Corps (Roof), London The Beatles' celebrated rooftop show. An idea conceived during a meeting on 26 January, it was the first of two consecutive Beatles/Billy Preston performances which concluded the Get Back project, for on 31 January they ran through numbers inside the basement studio. This day's work has passed into history as the Beatles' last live performance, even if it couldn't be classified as a concert. The 42-minute show (about half of which comprises the sensational close to the Let It Be film) was a lunchtime blast into the cold wind - imagine a high London rooftop in January - that brought part of the capital to a standstill, until the police, in turn, brought the show to an enforced conclusion. Much was commercially used from the 42 minutes on the roof, in the Let It Be film and on the Get Back (unissued) and Let It Be albums. What follows is a detailed description of the full rooftop repertoire, as preserved on EMI's eight-track tapes, with a guide to how it was made available.

The second movement of 28 year-old Ravel's Quatuor à Cordes. He is said to have been meticulous in his writing, and, finally, a group of musicians have matched his efforts in terms of attention. This is, in my opinion, the best performance and recording of this piece. The second movement is possibly the most known, as audiences remember the pizzicato opening; its usage in media, such as for the film "The Royal Tenenbaums" (W. Anderson) and as trailer music for films such as "Be Kind Rewind" (M. Gondry) also furthers its memorability. Assez vif introduces two new melodies; a rhythmic melody and a contrasting "sung" melody, which is both graceful and heroic. It is as though these are character motifs.
