Red Alert 3: Paradox - Allied Fixed Wing Aircraft Preview

Set in the aftermath of Red Alert 3, the global superpowers have been devastated by the war and an uneasy peace has descended onto the war-torn world. Yet the actions committed in the time-stream still have grave repercussions, as the paradox comes to a head and the impossible becomes possible... Red Alert 3 Paradox is an unofficial expansion pack project for Red Alert 3. Looking to expand the gameplay as much as possible, Paradox promises more than thrice as many units as the original, with dozens of new units in the existing sides and five new factions arising; the patriotic Confederate Revolutionaries, the sinister Mediterranean Syndicate, the otherworldly Atomic Kingdom of China, the noble Order of the Talon and the horrifying Electrical Protectorate. www.infinityrealms.net

Project Reality 0.9 Fixed-Wing Aircraft Takeoff & Landing Guide

www.realitymod.com This Guide shows the specifics of operating fixed-wing aircraft in Project Reality 0.9. It starts with an A-10 taxiing, taking off and landing. Afterwards the different approach settings for the other aircraft are shown. The planes that are easiest to fly and land are the A-10 and the SU-25. The F-16 and MIG-29 are just a little harder to land. The Eurofighter and the J-10 require a more precise approach and more attention to land them safely. The Tornado is a bit tricky since it requires a high approach speed and a shallow descent during the final stage of the approach. The SU-30 is pretty hard to handle for beginners since it's reaction to the throttle setting is delayed much longer than that of the other planes. This causes most new pilots to overshoot the runway and crash into an obstacle. The settings in this guide were tested for PR 0.9 and work in most situations. I hope this video offers some help to CAS pilots in Project Reality and to those interested in learning this skill. Music: MEC 3 (Night) by Disciple PR 0.9 Theme by Alkali (Scott Tobin)

The Helicopter Story - Part 1

Part 1 of 5 Documentary series "Century of Flight", episode "The Helicopter Story". A helicopter is a type of rotorcraft in which lift and thrust are supplied by one or more engine driven rotors. In contrast with fixed-wing aircraft, this allows the helicopter to take off and land vertically, to hover, and to fly forwards, backwards, and laterally. These attributes allow helicopters to be used in congested or isolated areas where fixed-wing aircraft would not be able to take off or land. The capability to efficiently hover for extended periods of time allows a helicopter to accomplish tasks that fixed-wing aircraft and other forms of vertical takeoff and landing aircraft cannot perform. - en.wikipedia.org

Fixed-Wing AH-56 Cheyenne Attack Helo: USAF egotantrums

Clearly, the 1947 National Security Act creating the separate service USAF and quasi-separate USMC has been a total disaster with the Air Farce SAYING it wants to do ALL aviation functions but is only really interested in doing sexy fighter-bombing to try to win wars by their firepower alone. This over-reaction to the 1943 North Africa USAAF troubles by centralizing ALL air power functions has left the US Army without a tactical air force to support ground maneuver by fixed-wing observation/attack and transport planes since these things are neglected by the USAF. When General Gavin proposed the Army "Sky Cavalry" he expected the flimsy and slow helicopter to be only a interim stop-gap to work around USAF racketeering corruption until VTOL/ESTOL fixed-wing aircraft became available--not the rotten use of helicopters for 60 years that has cost us thousands of lives and $ BILLIONS of dollars. 4, 000 helicopters lost in Vietnam led the still-with-common sense Army to want replacements that fly much faster--in the 300 mph range. The AH-56 Cheyenne compound helicopter with fixed-wings and a pusher prop in the tail could fly over 100 mph faster than current type helicopters. www.geocities.com Being selfish racketeers, the USAF threw a temper tantrum when they saw fixed-wings on the AH-56 as if it was their God-given right to them and demanded Congress cancel the AH-56. The USAF only accepted the A-10 in order to get the Cheyenne cancelled to spite the Army: www.combatreform.com ...

Fixed wing Turret and Laser Designation System WIP Preview

A quick Preview of UNN's latest creation. The Fixed wing Turret and Laser Designation System. This scripted system provides a workaround for ArmA's engine failure for working turrets on Plane class vehicles. The video shows a Mockup Predator UAV, the gunner's Optic/GUI, laser designation of targets and the target tracking system. What this means is: 1) It is now possible to have turrets on planes. Not just laser designators but potentially machine guns, canons etc. eg WWII bombers. 2) It is possible for single or dual seat aircraft to "self designate" laser guided bombs realistically. 3) A Full and practical range of UAV's are possible. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTES: 1) The UAV model is a very crude prototype -- yes we know it looks crap. 2) This system is in the very early stages of development and should be viewed as Work In Progress. 3) We have done some MP testing and it does work. However some bug fixes are in place. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Army Fixed Wing Flight Training

This footage shows Army fixed wing flight training activities during a nine month period in 1968. The film was taken at Fort Stewart, GA and Fort Rucker, AL. Each training class was comprised of between 25-30 commissioned officers and distinguished by the color of their hats. This particular group of officers was known as the "Gold Hat" class. Initial scenes are of primary training at Ft. Stewart, where officers were taught basic flying skills in the Army's T-41 Mescalero (a modified Cessna 172). Scenes at Ft. Stewart include footage of the Army's T-41 training fleet at Wright Army Airfield (AAF) and pilots practicing takeoffs and landings on unimproved grass strips at Ft. Stewart. Advanced training at Fort Rucker was conducted in Army T-42 Beech Baron twin engine aircraft and the Cessna O-1 "Birddog" aircraft. The training pilots received in the Baron led to their multiengine and instrument ratings as Army pilots. The training in the "Dog" was tactical in nature and oriented towards preparing the new aviators for assignments upon graduation: a combat flying tour in Vietnam. There most would be flying the Birddogs in combat support activities such as reconnaissance, direction of artillery and naval gunfire, and forward air control. The T-42 footage shows officers being bused to Cairns AAF and activities from a typical training flight. In this sequence the pilot is receiving training flying with a hood and culminates the day's training with an ...

V-22 OSPRAY Formidable Aircraft

VIDEO -Tiltrotor in action. Bell Helicopter V-22 Ospray VTOL aircraft. The V-22 is a fixed wing, tilt rotor, aircraft which takes off, lands, and hovers like a helicopter and rotates its' propulsion system 90 degrees to achieve horizontal flight like a fixed wing aircraft. Tilt rotor prior art aircraft have five distinctive disadvantages. One is that the aircraft cannot land or take off horizontally like a conventional airplane if for some reason there was a failure of its' apparatus that rotates its' propulsion system while in the vertical flight mode. Another is due to their rotor diameters being so large that the rotors would strike the ground in a horizontal landing or take off scenario. Such a large rotor diameter is necessary however, in order for these aircraft to take off and land vertically. The second disadvantage is that tilt rotor aircraft must overcome negative angular moments created by their spinning rotors when tilting their rotors 90 degrees during VTOL transitions. These forces act against the aircraft's fuselage creating a difficult control and stability phase for the pilot as the aircraft is transitioning in VTOL flight. A third disadvantage of a tilt rotor aircraft is that they cannot fly at all if one engine should fail. The fourth disadvantage is one that is shared with helicopters in that tilt rotor aircraft, that do not employ jets or ducted fans, take a sizeable area to land in because of rotor diameter. A fifth disadvantage of tilt rotor ...

HeliPal.com - Nine Eagles Mini Cessna RC Plane Test Flight 01

www.helipal.com The Plane for Beginners - Mini Size 3-Channel Fixed Wing Aircraft If you're a beginner and looking for RC Aircraft, you have to consider the most important thing - "Durability". This Sky Eagle Airplane is the perfect choice for every beginner. Why you say? Because we decided that it would be a great gift package for everyone, so we get some boys and girls to fly this plane, they have the job well done, by hitting it into walls, fences, trees and concrete floor, and it survive "INTACT"! Thanks to the material - EPP foam, the airplane itself is almost Crash Proof, and there is some patented device on the Propeller, that is the Quick Release Device, which will detached from the motor in any crash, this can minimize the damage to the propeller, very useful device, we tried and it worked brilliantly. The Plane for Beginners - Mini Size 3-Channel Fixed Wing Aircraft Comes to performance, it is a easy 3-Channel airplane for beginners, you get to control the Throttle, Elevator and Rudder, that means you can fly in all directions smoothly. For a mini size airplane like this, it is doing a good job in fighting wind, thanks to the High-wing design and strong motor to maximize the stability. You should be able the enjoy it in a park about half a football field, with light breeze or zero wind, you need to have a small runway (about 10 meters) to take off, otherwise you need someone to hand-throw the plane. www.helipal.com

Autogyro beats Helicopter for small VTOL Missions dynmicpara

If you are broke, you don't fly...and don't ASS U ME just because you are on the tax payer's gravy train that you can force overly complex helicopters to fly if they are being rebuilt. The dirty secret of helicopters is they HAVE TO BE REBUILT after x amount of hours or else they crash and burn. A simple fixed-wing aircraft only needs its engine rebuilt after many, many hours of use. Helicopters are constantly falling apart as you use them. There is a better way to get vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capabilities: THE AUTOGYRO. The same simple engine that spins a prop that pushes a fixed-wing plane forward through the air, instead spins simple rotors overhead. Voila! No costly maintenance and rebuilding, a rotary-wing "grasshopper" albeit not as fast as a fixed-wing STOL plane could be, but it has VTOL for those tight landing and take-off situations when you need it. The FAA-certified autogyro shown in the video not only moves on the ground by a small trailer, it compacts to fit inside a 20-foot ISO shipping container "BATTLEBOX" for air/land/sea transport anywhere in the world and to act as its hanger and troop living area. The autogyro would make an excellent "Killer Bee" for military observation/attack capabilities ORGANIC to ground maneuver units from their "hip pocket" not a bunch of pampered "fly boys" and multi-million-dollar fighter-bombers requiring 10, 000 foot paved runways miles and miles away at some comfy air base eating ice cream while you are getting ...

Airbus A380 Tail Strike Test [VMU Test]

Tailstrike is an aviation term that describes an event in which the rear end of an aircraft touches (strikes) the runway. This can happen during takeoff of a fixed-wing aircraft if the pilot pulls up too rapidly, leading to the rear end of the fuselage touching the runway. It can also occur during landing if the pilot flares too aggressively. This is often the result of an attempt to land nearer to the runway threshold. A tailstrike is physically possible only on an aircraft with tricycle landing gear; with a tail dragger configuration, the tail is already on the ground. Some delta wing aircraft, which require a high angle of attack on takeoff, are fitted with small tailwheels to prevent tailstrikes. Examples include the Concorde and Saab Draken. Some aircraft, such as the Diamond Aircraft Industries Diamond DA20, have a permanent skid installed to protect the airframe in the event of a tailstrike. Others may be fitted with a temporary skid as tailstrikes are sometimes purposefully carried out during the certification of new aircraft. Tailstrike incidents rarely cause significant damage or cause danger, but may cause financial losses as the planes have to be thoroughly inspected and repaired. However, improper repair to the damaged airframe after tailstrikes accidents may be responsible for fatal accidents that occur years later (including the worst single-aircraft accident as of 2008, the accident involving the Japan Airlines Flight 123) due to structural failure of the ...
