Folklore review on IGN. Folklore is an action/adventure game by Kouji Okada (the father of the Shin Megami Tensei series) that takes you through seven mysterious and yet Earth-like worlds. The game features two main characters. Ellen, a troubled young woman searching for answers to her past, receives a letter from her mom: a person who died when she was a child. The letter says "I want to meet you," and suggests that Ellen go to the town of Doolin. There, she meets Keats, a journalist who handles the occult corner of a magazine. He receives a phone call from an unknown girl asking for help. When he gets to Doolin, he finds that the girl has already been killed, and decides to start up an investigation.

Two Faces of Folklore: The Ludic and the Commemorative
2011 Fife Honor Lecture, given by John H. McDowell Drawing inspiration from Austin and Alta Fife, who had a hand in assembling that marvelous volume, Lore of Faith and Folly, I pursue in this lecture the contrasting threads of faith and folly in the guise of two folkloric moves, the ludic and the commemorative. The ludic takes us into a realm of playful irreverence, and my examples here come from the domain of nicknaming with its disfigurations of name and character. The commemorative takes us into the realm of reverence, and my examples here come from the domain of heroic song, specifically, the corrido, a popular ballad form in Mexico and among Mexican-Americans. Our quest indicates that folklore -- that zone of human behavior where people come together to engage in performances whose blueprint is contained in local knowledge and whose production is marked by heightened attention to style -- offers possibilities of either lowering or elevating its objects of reference. In spite of these contrasting intentions, both the ludic and the commemorative perform the same kinds of operations on their materials, operations that reassemble communicative resources to create new and arresting effects. In the process, through this lowering or raising up of referents, these two faces of folklore take us to the core of what it means to be human.

PS3 Underrated gem : Folklore
Folklore is an action-adventure game exclusively for the PS3. You can play as two of the main characters which are Keats and Ellen. You need to absorb Folk's IDs in order to summon the folks which can help you to battle with other Folks in other realms outside the world. The Folks that you already captured can be upgraded by meeting certain conditions. The gameplay in this segment somehow reminds me of Kingdom Hearts. Other than that, you will need to roam around a village to uncover the storyline which is interesting but pretty slow at the beginning. Folklore is one of the best games that utilize the Sixaxis in a good way. The sixaxis feature in this game makes capturing the Folks fun. If you like action/adventure/RPG with decent storyline, then Folklore is a game to play.

Folklore Final Boss Playstation 3 Part 1
This is in widescreen because I recorded this off my new HD. I had a zoomed in version of the final boss but they fail to upload. Keats is wearing his special costume you get when capturing all the folks in the game then completing it. Ellen is wearing Cloak of the Midnight Sun. I downloaded the new Folklore content on the Playstation store and thats where Keats new Transcension costume is from and the Folk Phutcampus that Ellen uses.(you have to beat one of the quests from the bar) Preparing making this video I realized using Keats Transcension powers is A LOT easier for his part. The powers go according to what type of Folk is Equipped. Its best to get rid of the Crow of Rage first. Its harder to attack him with close range ice attacks from Folks. The new Folk Phutcampus quickens the battle a bit too. Hope you like the vids. 8)
