(takes place after "One Day More") Javert (the Witchking) has become a spy among the revolutionary students (Boromir, Legolas, Elves) and intends to betray them to the soldiers. However, he is unmasked by the street urchin Gavrouche (Pippin) and the students angrily take him prisoner. Valjean (Aragorn) arrives to help the students at the barricade. They are distrustful, after being deceived by Javert. Valjean is astonished to see his nemesis there, captive, and Enjolras (Boromir) warns him that if Valjean tries to betray them, his fate will be the same as Javert's. A battle ensues, and the city soldiers retreat. Exultant, they begin celebrating, and ask Valjean what they can do for him. Valjean asks that the prisoner Javert be turned over to him, so that he may deal with him. Javert is proud, bitter, and taunts Valjean. But Valjean unties him instead, telling Javert he's free. Certain of some trick and unable to believe Valjean's goodness, the Chief Inspector tells him he'll always be a criminal, and that he will always hunt him. To this, Valjean replies that he expects nothing in return, he knows Javert will do what he must to fulfill his duty. They part. NOTES: - This audio is actually edited from several pieces for story flow - I'd been working on this a long time, on and off, due to computer issues. So I'm glad it's finally done!
