On Tour (French: Tournée) is a 2010 French comedy film directed by Mathieu Amalric. It stars Amalric himself as a producer who brings an American Neo-Burlesque troupe to France, played by genuine performers Mimi Le Meaux, Kitten on the Keys, Dirty Martini, Julie Atlas Muz, Evie Lovelle and Roky Roulette. In a road movie narrative, the plot follows the troupe as they tour French port cities with their show, which was performed for actual audiences during the production. The inspiration for the film was a book by Colette about her experience from music halls in the early 20th century, and a part of Amalric's aim was to translate the sentiment of the book to a modern setting. The film premiered at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival where it won the FIPRESCI Award, the festival's main prize from film critics. Amalric also received the Best Director Award. ====================================================== Plot: ------ Formerly successful television producer Joachim Zand returns from America to his native France, where he previously has left everything behind, including friends, enemies and his own children. In his company is a burlesque striptease troupe whom he has promised a grand performance in Paris. Together they tour the French port cities, staying at cheap hotels and making success along the way. Old conflicts are however reignated upon the return to the French capital. Joachim is betrayed by people from his past, making him lose the venue where they were to perform ...

Jeremy visits our nearest and dearest neighbour, France to find out what the French people really think of the British. In this part, Jeremy has a hot date with the French equivalent of Tara Palmer-Tompkinson, stars in his own film noir movie and then escapes the hustle and bustle of Paris to enjoy the culinary delights of rural France, unfortunately, not for the first time, his E-Type lets him down, although the local Jaguar enthusiasts come to the rescue. Apologies for the really bad video quality, I did not capture this, although would love to come across a better quality version.

Monkey Dust is a dark and satirical animated British TV program that ran on the BBC for 3 seasons. It is an acquired taste, but as far as I'm concerned it is the best TV ever made. This clip shows the filming of a French movie and takes a swipe at the pretentious nature of "arty" movies.

wwww.abudhabifilmfestival.ae | Set in a colorfully wacky version of 1977, Potiche gives Catherine Deneuve one of her best roles in a decade as a trophy wife-turned-triumphant-factory boss in this sparkling adaptation of a French boulevard-theater play. Deneuve plays Suzanna Pujol, a well-off housewife in thrall to tyrannical husband Robert (Fabrice Luchini). When labour trouble erupts at the provincial umbrella factory that Suzanna's father founded and Robert is taken hostage, Suzanna calls in her communist former lover Babin (Gerard Depardieu) to negotiate with the workers.

www.euronews.net French movie, "Les hommes libres," - 'The Free Men' - brings to the big screen the little known story of Muslim men and women who saved the lives of Jews during the Second World War. The film focuses on a young Algerian immigrant, Younes, who makes his living on the black market. He is arrested by the French police and asked to spy on the leaders of the Paris Mosque. They are suspected of saving Jews and resistance fighters from capture by the Nazis supplying them with false identity papers.

aya Benmahmoud, a young, extroverted liberal, lives by the old hippie slogan: "Make love, not war" to convert right-wing men to her left-wing political causes by sleeping with them. She seduces many and so far has received exceptional results - until she meets Arthur Martin, a Jewish middle aged, middle-of-the road scientist. Bound by common tragic family histories (the Algerian War and Holocaust under Vichy), the duo improbably fall in love.

The breakout comedy hit of Cannes 2009, THE FRENCH KISSERS (LES BEAUX GOSSES) is the debut feature of acclaimed graphic artist Riad Sattouf - a rollicking tale of a pair of teens who are far removed from the cool crowd, as they suffer the endless embarrassments of their first sexual experiences. While wiseass Herve and his sidekick Camel are forever fantasising over their female classmates, they're rarely able to go as far as actually talking to any of them, other than to mumble a few incoherent insults. But when Herve inexplicably catches the eye of the sweet but equally hormone-fuelled Aurore, he's pushed to choose between his first probable girlfriend and his best friend. Fresh, smart and most of all flat-out hilarious, the film tells of the humiliations of youth, but also those of parenthood. The young stars are all terrific, and adroitly supported by the superb Emmanuelle Devos, Noemie Lvonksy, Irene Jacob and Valeria Golino. Website: www.thefrenchkissers.com
