the stock exhaust on my VW MkV GTI is furious, only you have to practically put a mic inside it to hear. additionally I threw a mic under the hood to hear the incredible sound of the turbo and blow off valve, along with the direct-injection. I have to admit the speed I achieved at points while driving on this stretch of road is surprising, but due to the GTI's incredible suspension and aerodynamic tuning it was just another day in the office. Its tendency to to understeer during acceleration is a welcome safety net, while some lift-off oversteer helps the car to rotate around tight corners. at the same time, it kept its composure 100% of the time even when the road was less than optimal. what a great ride, and great fun. the only thing I'd like to change about the car however is the brakes. they're as mushy and mushy can be, and because of this they do not inspire confidence. maybe some stainless steel brake lines would help, but there's no question that my first modifications will be the APR ecu, upgraded brakes, and racing tires. all I have to do now is find the money to go racing so I can get off public roads and build a proper race car. in the mean time, gran turismo will suffice. download my gran turismo tuning guide for the iPhone on the iTunes Store. also to note of the numerous times I shifted during this film, not one was missed!!! no grinding here, though my clutch smelled like it didn't like it when I used it to control wheel spin during one of the launches ...
