For 2012(US), the Nissan GT-R is undergoing a minor change. This new change changes the chassis classification from CBA -R35 to DBA-R35. In addion to the visual changes, there is a 45 hp bump from 485 hp to 530 hp. 0-60 times drop to the 2.9-3.0 second time frame. Quarter mile drops to 11.0-11.3 seconds between 122 - 124 mph. Ready for another Nissan GT-R iteration? In April, Nissan said it would be working with third parties to set up a driving club that would offer members track-ready Godzillas, and this is apparently the result: the Track Club Edition GT-R, a product of the minds at Nissan, NISMO, NOVA Engineering in Shizuka and Nordring tuning in Saitama, Japan. A Japan-only endeavor, the umbrella organization is called The Prestige Club of GT-R, and to run in it will require a cave-full of yen: the car itself is ¥10479000 ($120725 US); membership in The Prestige Club membership is ¥2 million ($23024 US) and annual dues are a further ¥1 million ($11513 US). For all of that you get the special GT-R, a race number and inclusion in two race days and an annual gathering. As for the racer itself, performance upgrades include new ECM, traction control, ABS and VCD programming, two-way adjustable Bilstein dampers and revised upper front links, a front lip spoiler, NACA duct and brake air guides among other things. Inside, there's a four-point harness with a six-point retention system available over a Bride Gardis III seat, automatic fire suppression system and NISMO data logging kit. The twin-turbo motor puts out in excess of 493 horsepower and 434 pound-feet, and the package rides on 20-inch Rays Forged Aluminum wheels from the SpecM shod with Dunlop Direzza Long Life Slicks. If you're going to be in Japan and want in on the series, applications are being accepted until September 20.

Since its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2007, the Nissan GT-R has enthralled its customers as the definitive accessible supercar. The 2011 Nissan GT-R has been developed under the theme of the 'World's best multi-performance and pleasure of responsive driving'. The exterior features more strength and stability, while the traditional creative flair associated with the GT-R's striking appearance has also been updated, to offer improved aerodynamics. A sportier interior complements the enhanced design. Engine and Transmission Engine output is significantly improved to 530PS (390KW)/6400rpm, with the maximum torque of 612Nm from 3200 to 6000rpm. The engine cover is, enigmatically, painted red to illustrate its enhanced performance. By adopting an ultra-low precious metal catalyst and an engine control module fitted with high-capacity microprocessors, cleaner emissions have been achieved. Fuel economy has also been improved by modifying the boost pressure of the turbocharger, valve timing and air mixture ratio along with larger diameter inlet pipes and a modified exhaust system. SAVE mode is a newly-adopted system, replacing 'snow Mode', which optimises driving torque and modifies the gearshift schedule to improve fuel economy when driving on motorways or open roads. The features of Snow Mode are also retained. Standing start performance can now be maximised through the use of R mode. AMS Alpha 9 Nissan R35 GT-R - 2010 Super Lap Battle Finals
The AMS Alpha 9 GT-R made its way to Buttonwillow Raceway this fall for the 2010 Super Lap Battle Finals street class competition via a 2000+ mile cross country trek with the guys of Nagtroc.org. They documented their adventure and reviewed the car over the course of their journey from the AMS facility in West Chicago, IL. The goal? To showcase the powerful yet reliable performance of the AMS Alpha 9 Package just prior to competition and its top speed capabilities after such a grueling trip. The Alpha 9 GT-R was subjected to more than just the lead foot of its reviewers: extreme temperatures, severe weather and elevation all made for a challenging journey. This included heavy Midwest rains, snow and icy condition in the Rockies and, after a stop in Las Vegas for SEMA, the extreme dry heat of the Southwest desert. After arriving in Buttonwillow, and with a quick adjustment in suspension setup, the GT-R competed in the SLB Finals street class without a hitch, placing 2nd just behind the AMS EVO X, with a time of 1:55.99. This was the first time on the track for the Alpha 9 GT-R and with over 800 horsepower it proved to be quite a handful. Martin Musial, President of AMS and driver in the SLB Finals, plans to have all the kinks worked out well in advance of next year's event to beat the EVO X and top the SLB track record in the street class division.

What makes a sportscar like the Porsche 911 the dynamic wonder it is today? Relentless development and fine-tuning. With the introduction of the 2011 model, Nissan is doing the same with the GT-R, boosting performance and adding amenities while tacking on two new variants to its ever-expanding line up. For 2011 the entire GT-R range -- previewed at the Paris Motor Show and due to hit North American dealers around February -- the upgrades come from a range of enhancements outside, inside and underneath. Although the 2011 model may look almost identical to the outgoing version, Nissan has labored arduously to improve aerodynamics -- increasing downforce by 10% while reducing drag by a hundredth of a G -- with new bumpers front and rear, larger vents and an enlarged diffuser. LED running lights are most notably integrated into those strakes on the front corners, while inside the cabin gets a new instrument panel and carbon fiber trim. But it's the 2011 GT-R's guts that set it apart: the boost has been increased, the valve timing adjusted and the ECU recalibrated to bump output up to 523 horsepower and 451 pound-feet of torque -- an increase from the outgoing model's 485 hp and 434 lb-ft. The engine also gets a glowing red cover to set it apart, along with a strut brace links the suspension towers. The suspension has also been retuned, and mounted to new 20-inch Rays wheels barely hiding the redesigned brake discs that promise to fade less and last longer. All those <b>...</b>
