Altough I was planning on doing this anyway, requested by damngodsonic and Warhawk717. ... Jesus this game is hard. Sorry Jesus, it is! It suffers the same problem that Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Heroes does - obnoxious level design thats out to get you. In those games, it's masses of pits and unwieldy collision detection - in this one... it's... just mean as hell. The bosses aren't exactly pushovers either, you have a very limited time window to hit most of these. Why did I do the Game Gear version as opposed to the Master System version? I prefer the boss music... that and it makes the bosses harder, unlike Sonic 1. There are three points in this game where you will lose lives like sand falling out of a bag with holes in: Green Hills Act 3 - thanks to many blind jumps via springs. Scrambled Egg Act 2 - because it's simply out to get you via instant death traps and "oh no I pressed the wrong direction at the wrong milisecond so I died" segments And the Final Boss -I take back what I said about the Sonic 1 8Bit final - this one's far harder! Fortunately the game is very generous on lives, I got 7 in Green Hills Act 1 alone. Despite the number of lives I lost, I stay above nine because it simply gives you so many lives! Cheers to GHZ for the boss names, and big thanks to purple_manners for the Emerald Locations. Crazy game.

Like the original EverDrive, the EverDrive GG is really easy to use. Simply load your Game Gear or SMS ROM files onto the provided microSD card, load the microSD card into the EverDrive board, pop the cartridge shell together and load the cartridge like you would any other game. The built in menu system will allow you to pick and play any games that are on your microSD card. For those of you who don't know or haven't seen my update videos and are probably asking, "Why are you remaking some of your old reviews?" I wanted to revisit some of these games for quite some time now and this year was the perfect time since it marks my 5th year making reviews on YouTube. I know that these reviews have a special place in your heart, but if you ask me, I don't think my original reviews did enough justice. Back in the day, I was very inexperienced with reviewing and I did not know how to PROPERLY review games AND make it entertaining at the same time. If anything, my older reviews were more like Let's Plays. I didn't give enough reasons to explain why I thought the games were awful. Yes that's right... the PowerBACK! I realize I said BatteryBack in the video... GOD DAMMIT! This is the 2nd official Battery Pack released for the Game Gear. Unlike the original that required the player to fill their pocket with a funny looking brick while a long cable runs up to the Game Gear. The later released PowerBack screwed right onto the back (hence the name!) of your Game Gear! It was much more convenient and still allowed your hands to contour the back of the system. It also had a switch to change from quick charge or normal/play mode. Quick charge would charge the battery pack in 2 hrs but you couldn't play the system at the same time while normal/play allowed you to play the system while charging the battery pack but it would take 8 hrs to charge. The fully charged battery pack would allow apx 4-5 hrs of gameplay.
